Their calendar is not scheduled for December yet but I hope they're playing sometime during the week of the Habitat rally. I'd love to see them. Check out their web page for some video clips.

Send Rick a PM, I bet he can tell you if they are playing in town that week.

Reservations are made and we are looking forward to a great time working on a Habitat House. This will be our first experience with Habitat and what better way then with Airstream friends. There will be four workers as our daughter and son-in-law will be coming with us. We will be arriving on Monday, early afternoon if all goes well. Larry and Shala

Monday Evening Meal?

The first day of work at Habitat will be Tuesday morning 12/28. For those of us at the campground on Monday afternoon I think we should get together for a meal - pot luck of sorts - just bring what you have and if you have extra we'll share. Otherwise, just make a sandwich and we'll meet each other and prepare for the work days.

We don't know our work assignment yet as it's too early for that. We'll know for sure sometime in December - maybe just a few days before we meet.

I'm still working on my brother and sister-in-law. I hope they'll join us in their 5th wheel. If you know anyone else that wants to camp and work with us please let them know. It's open to anyone. Even if they don't camp and want to stay in a hotel - that's okay with me.

Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra... ?

Danielle and I were just looking at the calendar and thinking we may go to New Orleans earlier than originally planned. We may find ourselves there on Christmas day.

Anyone familiar with the movie Christmas Story? We'll be going to a Chinese restaurant for dinner on Christmas day. We do that almost every year - it's a tradition we started over 20 years ago when we lived in Texas. Back to the movie... the family in the story ends up in a Chinese place for Christmas dinner and the waiters and staff sing Christmas songs to the family but they have an Asian accent... Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra.... what a hoot!

Suggestions for good Chinese in New Orleans are welcome.

For those who don't know a very large seafood market is just down the street from the park. They offer fresh seafood and a couple of restaurants. I have to assume the homes you will work on are in the lower 9, and you are talking about a 30 to 45 min. trip to get there.

Couple of problems here you more than likely will not find a Chinese restaurant open Christmas day much less one that you would want to eat at. If you want to eat at a decent restaurant on Christmas day which is open you may want to get reservation now. New Orleans is not known for it Chinese food and eating Chinese food in New Orleans is not what the food scene is about. The best Chinese restaurant near the park will be China Doll.
Here is the Link. BTW I like Chinese food, it is just not what New Orleans food is about.
China Doll Restaurant - Google Maps

If you want to treat you wife and family to a wonderful experience on Christmas day I suggest you review the page linked below. Tom Fitzmorris it the goto guy for food in New Orleans. I don't have to tell you that as he will do it for himself. He will have reviews of upscale Chinese restaurants listed.

Mmmmm.... Good Food!

Thanks for the links Jim. I'll definitely look at the information more closely before heading to New Orleans. I'm sure we'll find something to our liking even if it's not Chinese.

3 Yes, 3 Maybe

Three rigs are signed up as Yes for the rally and three are Maybe. Is that a likely-maybe or a probably-not-maybe? Anyone else out there interested in joining us?

Danielle are giving some consideration to arriving early... maybe as early as December 24. We'll keep you posted.

Headcount?

Okay everyone... time to confirm your participation and work days. Please copy and past starting from this entry. Indicate the number of people and which days you will be available to swing a hammer, paint, sweep, etc.

We looking forward to seeing eveyone in New Orleans.

nvestysly - 2 people: Tue, Wed, Thur
