Keep us informed, love to go.

Its not too bad most of the way. the last few miles it does start to get "hilly". I don't think its any worse than the trip to Bar Harbor, anyway.

what are you driving/towing?

Our tow vehicle is a Ford Clubwagon Van, and we tow a 2004 25' Safari. Our van is rated at 6200#. We are cutting it too close for comfort . I know the roads to Holyoke, because our daughter goes to Smith College off exit 18. Just wondering how hilly the roads are after that?

91 isn't bad at all...no "big" hills 'till you get to Brattleboro, but you can get off at the first exit. then you go north on 30 the rest of the way. next 15 miles is nothing too hilly, through Newfane and Townsend...but those last couple of miles have a few hills...starting to approach ski-country. I wouldn't let it keep me from going to the rally.

Sites

Looking at the Jamaica Site Map numbers 20 to 30 look good. Setting up around the water on that end would be away from the crowds and lots of water. Never been there so I'm only going by the map.

They don't seem to have online reservation.

"KING" Richard here ...

I hereby DECLARE and PROCLAIM that, in response to popular demand, there SHALL BE a Northeast Forum Rally open to ALL, to be held upon the dates of Friday, August 27 through Sunday, August 29, at the JAMAICA STATE PARK in Jamaica, Vermont.

Those planning to be in attendance should make reservations directly with the State campground reservation service TWO WEEKS PRIOR by calling 1-888-409-7579, Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30.

If reserving LESS than two weeks prior to the heretofore announced dates, you should call the park directly, at 802-874-4600.

This I DECREE, and have affixed my HAND and SEAL hereunder,

"King" Richard of Caravel

PS: Pick any site you like, it's not a big park.

OK, if people want to park close to each other, let's use Over59's suggestion and aim for sites 20-30. I'm sure they are all nice spots. I'm making my call Monday morning! Who else is in?

BTW, I will be bringing a 4-year-old. We will be hiking all the trails and probably swimming too. Any other kids coming? How about people who act like kids?

I will be there. No kids -- just hubby and two Golden Retrievers. I noticed the campground allows leashed, well behaved pets so we are golden! (no pun intended)

Sites 15 & 16 are reserved!

Yukionna will be staying at site #16.
Pam will be staying at site #15.

A couple of notes:

1) If you are bringing pets, be sure to bring your proof of rabies or, as I was told by the campground, you will be turned away at the entrance

2) Many sites in the 20 - 30 range are already reserved. Additionally, many of the sites are short so you will probably need to reserve based on the length of your trailer.

New Jersey Forum Rally

I've started a separate thread for planning/tracking information on our proposed upcoming New Jersey rally for the weekend of October 1-2. Kimili suggested the Airstream Jersey Shore Haven. I've done some further research on this campground and they have a rally field with water/electric that we could reserve. There is room for about 16 trailers in the rally field. The cost is $15/day if you are a shareholder and $22/day for non-shareholders. Well-behaved pets are allowed.

Any interest?
Can anyone from the area suggest local attractions of interest?

P.S.
Here is a link to the original thread which started the discussion of a "Northeast Forum Rally":

Yes, I think Rich mentioned that in post #66 above:

"Those planning to be in attendance should make reservations directly with the State campground reservation service TWO WEEKS PRIOR by calling 1-888-409-7579, Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30."

I called at 8:30 this morning and was able to get someone on my first try. Perhaps they are out for lunch?!

Extra Site

They called me back from the reservation place and I reserved two sites. I'm reserved for Thursday to Sunday am. I'm on number 18. Figure we can use the other site 19 for happy hour, pot luck or whatever.

Site #14 is booked!

Remember folks, call 888-409-7579 before Aug 13 to reserve. Late August is a terrific time of year to come to Vermont!
