Great ideas, we are free for the following dates.

August 27-28
October 1-2

Location doesn't matter much. Dry camping is fine. Jamaica State Park sounds good.

North Norwich, New York

I'm sending my home town a letter about there park and using it in October for a rally there. Most likely be Columbus weekend. North Norwich is zip code 13814 and is 35 miles north of Binghamton, 1.5 hours from Albany, 45 miles from Utica or Syracuse and about 20 miles from Cooperstown. There are alot of neat things to do. This is part of my letter to the town board. The park has two pavilians, a basketball court, a really nice playground, softbal field and a 1/2 mile trail around it. It is all grass surrounded by pines on two sides. It is beautiful.

The park would be a great central location for the Rally. We would plan on activities local to the area such as touring the Antique Car museum in Norwich, hiking the Finger Lakes trail or the Whauppanauca Statelands, Cooperstown, Roger’s Center, Colgate, Bouckville, or try to get a tour of a local Maple Syrup business. Canoeing the Chenango river would also be a draw. Maybe a horse drawn hayrid? The playground would be key too, for the families that come with kids. Just relaxing in a small town atmosphere and a low key weekend would be the draw for most. The fall is key due to the foliage at that time. Basics of the rally are morning rally breakfasts, touring during the day, and then a rally dinner, either at the park, or at a local restaurant is a possibility.

Who would be interested. I told them in my letter 20-40 trailers, motorhomes. We'd park wagon wheel style.

Rob

The park sounds good but unfortunately it's too far for us.

Our AS is down at the shore for the season that makes it a 7-8hr drive each way. Quite exhausting for such a short stay. We'd have to drive down to get the As Friday night and then drive back up Saturday morning, meet, bbq, sleep and leave! Drive back down, drop the AS and drive back home...sigh...can't park the AS in our area.

We'll keep our eyes on this thread just in case the majority can't make it too and you choose another location. Hopefully closer.

By the way did we mention that the shore is fantastic in October??!!! no tourists, no mosquitos, lots of warm sunny days, cool breezy nights...and lots of fun! a good reason to winterize later...

It looks like we are leaning toward Jamaica State Park in Southern Vermont. We are polling now to see what dates work best for the majority.

I'm not trying to further complicate the planning process but had another thought which could alleviate the timing/distance issues for some people by providing two choices. How about considering squeezing in two forum rallies this year: perhaps August in Vermont and October on the Jersey shore?! We could be like those "millionaire people" who follow the seasons in their travels!

I could do August 27-28 in Vermont and Oct 1-2 at some to-be-determined New Jersey location! What do you think about that idea?

Sounds like that would be fun!

Any ideas on where folks would want to have such a rally??

Sounds like we can take a vote . I cann't figure out how to set up a poll. I would do so if someone would pint me to the instructions .
I like the shore idea and vermont. I think we may be going to an early Cape Cod Rally in Oct but haven't signed up yet. Why do they always serve that sliced ham in water? Stuck in the 50's with vintage food .

I'll set up a quick poll in a few minutes...

Northeast Forum Poll

In an effort to simplify voting for your preference on location and dates for a Northeast forum rally (or two) in 2004, here is a simple poll.

Thanks in advance to thenewkid64 for offering to merge this poll with our ongoing thread.

At this point five people have indicated they can do the 8/27-28 dates at Jamaica State Park in VT. Three of those are also interested in the NJ shore in October. Let's have some more votes, and then I'll post instructions on how to reserve your site.
