and the $64 question: which trailer are you bringing? the new bambi, or the old bambi?

The answer is....
....[drumroll]....
...
...
...
...the '02 Bambi!

I think THAT was worth more than $64!!!

The '64 Bambi plumbing is in pieces at the moment as hubby is fixing a leak in one of the hot water heater lines and the cracked main line from the fresh water tank. We are working toward getting it all pulled together to bring to the Big E rally in mid-September.

We are confirmed! The Honda passed the recall check, no problem. Plan to arrive late Friday afternoon.

The weather looks excellent! See the latest forecast here http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/forecas...5&city=Jamaica

That's really good news. We are going up Thursday. Taking the back roads and avoiding the interstate. Hope to come across some farm stands.

Ok, so now I'm trying to decide the route to take. my typical route to this location (which I've done countless times), involves a long stretch of 495...which beat the crap out of my trailer a couple of weeks ago. the overpasses are a MESS!! so I really want to avoid that. so I'm thinking of taking the northern route...which we used to do when I was a kid. but its become so built-up going through Nashua, its a painfully long ride. I'm told of a "short cut"...which doesn't look much like a short cut on the map. but it bypasses Nashua completely. the mileage is almost the same either way. anyone familiar with 101 between Milford and Keene? (Vern? ) how are the road conditions these days?

Its a bit hilly-er going this way...but Rt 2 through MA ain't exactly what you'd call "flat" in some spots, either. The NH route is a much prettier ride, too...

Site #13

I didn't cancel our reservation in time so was unable to get a refund. Site
#13 is paid for Fri. and Sat. nights, and it's available for the forum rally. The campground requested another name, and I gave them yours, rluhr, since your site is adjacent - hope that's okay. Looks like its going to be a great weekend. Enjoy!

That's fine, Cruiser. I'll be happy to hand over the site to anyone from the Forum who shows up!

We hate to tell you the bad news ... but you missed a GREAT WEEKEND!

Pictures will be up on the web in a few days. I'll let yukionna, Chuck, Funchucky-1, and over59 fill you in on the details. But in short, it was awesome and you can expect it to become an annual event!

A beautiful, woodsy campground, that by some miracle, had no bugs ; a nice hike along a wooded trail that runs alongside the picturesque West River; a dip in the swimming hole; a pretty drive through the VT countryside; good company; a happy hour/potluck featuring local delicasies from the nearby "smoke house", as well as other culinary delights; (no ham in water at this rally! ) an impromptu pancake breakfast...did I mention "good company"? oh, and about the prettiest dump station I've ever seen. I should've taken a picture.

I made an "album" in my gallery with a few shots...not the greatest quality. my little camera doesn't fair well in the low/contrasty light conditions of the forest.

We had a very nice weekend. Jumped in a mountain pool below the waterfall after a 3 mile hike. Then hiked back. Great community gathering Saturday night.
Took a peek in an Avion which was really cool. Came home on secondary roads and had no traffic, got lost twice. A few miles on 91 was very busy so we got off. Took longer but was relaxing rather than exhausting. Stopped in New Shelburne Falls Ma and had lunch at mother's (I think its a hangout for biker chicks) and ordered sandals at a little shop down the street for Jane and I. Cann't do that on the Interstate.

Looking forward to New Jersey. I think there is still space if you are interested.

And I have pictures to prove it!

On the way home we stopped to do a corn maze just north of Rutland. Great fun, but wow -- hot!

It was 65 degrees at my house when we got home. backdoor cold front just clipped northern Essex County....made for easy un-loading. I even mowed the lawn!

ps: more pictures!
