Gerard & Laura are stranded in Michigan City, Indiana, their truck having broken down and they are looking for a part.

They may be late, or may not make it at all.

Part is to be in Friday morning, and they look to be on the road by mid day, joining us late on Friday.

Just rolled in at 8:30--2 fuel stops, lunch, dinner and a 'tique fix in between. Makes for a long day, but worth it to party with you all. One semi-eventful issue on the way home: the lag screws holding the sewer hose holder to the center of the trailer belly fell out during the bumpy trip home, and I noticed the housing was dragging under the trailer during one of our stops. Lost the hose, but otherwise no harm. Remember to check the fasteners under your trailers every now and again! That makes 3 lag screws that backed out during this trip!

FYI: I had a call from Bill (featherbetter). He had his surgery , heart arrithmia (sp) on Monday and home Tuesday about 1:00 pm. Spent night in ICU due to excessive bleeding. The procedure went well, but he cannot drive for 5 days or lift arms above his head.

Moraine view

We made it home on Monday without any further battery issues. They go on the list for our visit at Jackson center next month.
Had a wonderful time again with all of you. Never felt so welcome to a new group before. Sunday night fire watch was the best.
Thank you Mike for letting us know about Bill. Will keep him in my prayers.
Can't wait to see you all again. Miss you already.

OK here's a heads up for next fall Oktoberfest. Camping in the area is a little spendy starting at $45 CDN / night, taxes included. That is about $34 US if the exchange rate stays where it is. For that you get power and water on a grass site. I would recommend Green Acre RV park as it is conveniently located near the farmers market and has easy access to the highway. I am trying to get a group rate as we speak. I'll let y'all know how that pans out. Farmers Market runs on Thursday morning and Saturday morning. Across the road from the market is a factory outlet mall that is open every day. 3 miles up the road is St. Jacobs a quaint little town that has developed into a tourist / boutique trap. We have to do at least 1 night at a Festhalle. I'd say Friday night at the Concordia club. It's the oldest German club in KW(here since 1887) and they started the Oktoberfest ball rolling 50 years ago in 1967, Canada's centennial year.

Oktoberfest starts on Friday of the Columbus Day weekend and runs through to the following weekend. It was suggested that early birds could arrive on Wed. 10 Oct. and visit the farmers market on Thursday AM. For those who will need 2 days to get here anyplace starting near Benton harbor MI or Ft. Wayne IN will leave you with a reasonable day's travel to finish up. Closer is even better as the days are starting to get short. We prefer crossing at Port Huron / Sarnia. Least amount of congestion and border hassles. There is a nice municipal CG right beside the Cracker Barrel in Port Huron. Fill up the fuel before crossing. Gas booze and cig's are expensive in Canada. Visit the duty free store. You are allowed to bring in 1 liter of alcohol and 1 carton of smokes per each adult. Passports are necessary. Leave your guns at home.
