Pot luck meal

Hi everyone
Any final decision on dinners for Friday and Saturday nites? I remember discussion of chili night. Will need to go shopping this weekend and would like to prepare menu.
Look forward to seeing you all again and a relief to get away from a hectic work schedule.

Iíve been watching the weather, but the forecast is changing every day so it is hard to know what the temps are going to be....but, I think chili/soups would still be a good plan for an outdoor meal on a Friday night mid-October.

Right now, forecasted temp for Friday is 80 degrees, but even if it is that warm we always have a good breeze off the lake bringing temps down quite a bit.

Bowl food and sides sound perfect for me, but I donít know yet what I will bring.

Maggie

I / we vote Chili / soup for Friday. Even if 80 during day, nights are cooling down. We have "dogs" and buns to go with chili .

Saturday, the usual pot luck, a dish to pass .

MARATHON BOCCE BALL per Nancy Mac

maccamper is bringing Jalapeno Spoonbread and homemade jalapeno jelly for the chili/chilly Friday night. We're also bringing a hot (not the spicy kind of hot) artichoke/spinach dip and corn chips for a potluck night appetizer. All will be gluten free, though not prepared in a gluten free kitchen, if anyone has a gluten concern.

Haven't decided for sure what our potluck dish to share will be. It will be enough to set on the table again for "Leftover" night on Sunday. We're counting on breakfast Sunday morning at the American Legion in Le Roy.

Darn it, our Bocce Ball set (unused from last Christmas) is still down in Southern Illinois. We thought we'd be playing and practicing during the summer but it didn't turn out that way.

We'll bring some firewood.

Airtandem, do you want us to bring some hot dogs and buns too?

Warm weather = ice cream? I figured out my mistake last spring and subsequent batches have worked out great. Flavored or vanilla for rumtopf?

Ice cream sounds delicious! I vote for vanilla, however, I haven't yet found an ice cream I didn't like.

Yep, this is the last Third Sunday Market of the season ... I'm planning on going. Haven't made it out there yet this year. Geeze, is it the middle of October already?! http://www.thirdsundaymarket.com

If we think we'll be short on hot dogs or buns as folks show up, we can always make a run into Le Roy to the IGA. The hot dogs will be in addition to chili, right? So 25 may be plenty.

I won’t have Rumtopf this time, Brian, but I’m sure ice cream would be consumed without a topping if you chose to make it.

I have what I think is Mrs. Fields cookie dough on my freezer, so will be baking those up Thursday morning to bring along.

Whatever cookie dough it turns out to be once thawed, that’s what I will be baking.

We will make corn bread to go with the chili. Tiramisu for dessert on Saturday. Are we doing the pizza joint again? No need to hurry home so breakfast at the Legion sounds good with us. Laura is now officially retired.

Pizza on Thursday and Legion on Sunday are 2 of our standards.

I am bringing beef vegetable soup. Pumpkin chocolate swirl bread for dessert. Bob is making his peanut brittle.
Will bring bowls and spoons.
If you think soup will be too much on Friday, I can bring deviled eggs on Friday and bring the soup on Saturday?
Gina
