Since we were the fortunate recipients of Jack and Patty's site upgrade, Jo Ann and I would like to step up and take the reins for the Friday evening hot dog roast. We'll plan on bringing the dogs, buns and condiments and a Webber grill to roast them on if everyone else is on board with the rest of the routine. I'd also like to try my hand at making some homemade ice cream for the Saturday potluck.

Mike-I received a 6 qt dual power maker for my birthday last year; should make enough for a taste. Worst case scenario is we have ice cream soup, right? Up for fresh peach?

Nice of you guys to do that.

I thought of it, but simply don't have the equipment.

How 'bout if I bring the buns? Four dozen be enough?

We can always make bun pudding with the leftovers.

If you've never had bun pudding.....I'll show you Saturday night.

Buns would help out tremendously Maggie, thanks! Bring plenty; I'm anxious to try the bun pudding, too!

I'm thinking 4 dozen, maybe 5 dozen?

We need a final headcount, as we get closer, so if there are any lurkers who have a site but have not yet declared themselves....time to speak up!

This is Jack's last list:

21 sites so far!

P12 MILATV
P13 kswelsh
P14 AL - K4GLU
P15 Diego
P16 Featherbedder
P17 mcair
P18 Pickles
P19 silverslppr
P20 Silvertwinkie
P21 Mount'n Man
P22 silvertwinkie's brother
P23 Irishrider
F1 Tikihut
F2 85MH325
F3 TinLoaf
F4 Cottage
F5 Lily&Me
F6 Mrs_RedSHED
F7 Airtandem
F8 knunut
F9 JDS

I know there are a couple of solo travelers there, besides me, but if we count two adults per trailer, just to be safe.....that would be 42 adults X 2 hot dogs apiece = 7 dozen buns/84.

Might do 8 dozen, just to be sure.....will do bun pudding in the DO Sat. night with any leftovers. I'll bring the ingredients for that.

If anyone wants to contribute a few dozen buns, let me know, and we can pool our bun resources.

Moraine View 2015--You can reserve now!

Maggie, my suggestion based on previous years was 10 lbs of hot dogs. You can figure your bun count from that. I usually got the hot dogs and buns at Sam's club. They have big packs of the buns that reasonably priced.
Last time I was there we ate them all!

Thanks, Jack.

10lbs of hot dogs would be about 100, so 8-9 dozen hot dog buns should do it.

I'll plan on 9 dozen, to allow for some extra.

We started with 5 lbs, then went to 7. I had the feeling a couple of years that 10 was the next step. Sure enough that first year of 10 lbs., we ate them all. I bought Ball Park brand hot dogs which are what they stock at the Sams here in St. Louis. I'm pretty sure 10 lbs. is still in tune. I think the packs of buns that Sam's Club had were 18 buns in a pack. I think we went through 96 buns.

For those coming to the hot dog fest, if you would like to bring a bag of chips, etc. please feel free. Always nice to have a few extra nibbles to go along with the dogs. We can also use some napkins, paper plates and if you have some plastic utensils just in case there is something brought that needs more than your fingers to eat!

Maybe 10 dozen buns.

I think everyone could just bring their own table service, whatever they like to use...might be simplest, hmm?

You usually supply all of it, I know, Jack , but folks are going to have all those things with them, anyway....

I'll bring some chips and paper plates for the hot dawg event.

Maybe if I can figure it out, we can Facetime Jack via an iPhone connected to the projector.
