Well, I have some bad news that we again are going to have to skip this rally. Patty has been doing fairly well since going on dialysis. We even are able to do it at home with equipment that we can take with us when we camp. We did a test outing for a week last September at the COE facility at Carlyle Lake which is about 60 miles east of us.

Patty started developing lumps in her breast, stomach, and thigh area early this spring. We kept getting bounced around to different doctors. She got a biopsy of the breast tissue and there was no cancer found. Looks like the problem is calcification which happens to a small amount of patients who are on dialysis. It's painful and it will only get worse if it's not treated.

Our problem is the treatment means having to go on an IV drug therapy that gets infused 3 times a week at the dialysis center. Treatment could take up to 6 months if it works. She goes in for another biopsy of tissue next week which will confirm the presence of calcification.

As it all works out we most likely will be getting the IV therapy within a couple of weeks, and this won't be something that we are allowed to do on our own. So for the second year we won't be able to make it. At this point I just wanted to let you all know that we wouldn't be there. I'll work on how we fill the gap on the hot dog fest and the movies.

Obviously we are both discouraged but on the good side this year she's not in the hospital like last year, and we know that the dialysis is working. As to the cause of the calcification, there are a couple of possibilities which are treatable. But to get rid of the lumps and pain, the IV treatment is the course of action. Relief for some comes as soon as 6 days, others it may take as long as 6 months. So we are in this treatment mode for quite a few weeks it looks like. Any further travel for this year might possibly be out of the question, but we will see. There's always next year to look forward to.

For the present my site (P21) will open up again so I'd be glad to coordinate this with someone who either has not yet reserved and wants to come, or someone at the more distant sites who may want to come in close. Just PM me and I'll be glad to release the site when you are ready to take it.

Jack

Oh, Jack.....I'm so sorry to hear that.

Hugs to you and Patti, and hope that she weathers this new storm without additional difficulty.

Take care,

I told Patty that I was canceling and she said well you could go up and visit and then come home on Saturday, but that still involves almost 8 hours of total travel time. If anything goes wrong on that trip, I wouldn't be home to do her dialysis treatment (which occurs overnight).

Yep, staying with her is the right thing to do, and is what I would do if it were me.

We will miss you.

Maybe we could get you on Skype?

Pm me your email address, and we'll try it!

I don't know if you knew this but Eric did this with me last year when Patty was in the hospital. I think it was Saturday when we tried it out. I was there with her and said hi to a few of the attendees. I also have FaceTime if you are into Mac's.

I didn't know that, but was a bit immersed in my own issues last June.

Eric will be there......if we have problems, he will be able to figure it out.

Their little guy will be talking a blue streak by this year......he is the most beautiful, sweet child.

Let's try for mid day Sat.....I would love to say hello to both of you.

Jack, I'm so sorry to hear that you won't make it... but I'm pleased that, despite the tought times that have befallen you and Patty, that you're both hanging in there. Give Patty our best wishes that this resolves quickly for her. Hopefully we'll get to chat on Skype then at the rally.

Thanks and I will keep him in mind. Mount'n Man contacted me last night and I committed to him already. If something falls through I'll let you know. He was in P11 which was the furthest site from the main loop.

Since we were the fortunate recipients of Jack and Patty's site upgrade, Jo Ann and I would like to step up and take the reins for the Friday evening hot dog roast. We'll plan on bringing the dogs, buns and condiments and a Webber grill to roast them on if everyone else is on board with the rest of the routine. I'd also like to try my hand at making some homemade ice cream for the Saturday potluck.

Mike-I received a 6 qt dual power maker for my birthday last year; should make enough for a taste. Worst case scenario is we have ice cream soup, right? Up for fresh peach?
