Thanks to everyone for another great rally, despite the on and off rain. We got a lot of visiting in, and just a bit of eating , in spite of some heavy downpours.
We had several new faces this year.....each of which were personally invited via these Forums by yours truly.
I tell everyone this is a great group of people.....and each of our newcomers thanked me this morning for inviting them and made a point of saying what a warm, welcoming, and really great group of folks are the Moraine View rally.
And....yes, you are.
Don't forget.......October 16-18, 2015, we are going to do a fall rally this year.
See you there.

As first time ever attendees both Carolyn & I were overwhelmed by the friendly conversations and great food we enjoyed at the Rally (no mention need be made about the weather!). Thanks again, Maggie, for inviting us and we look forward to our next.

Hello ALL; Dana and I turned out the lights on another GREAT Moraine View Rally and looking forward to October, we are sign, sealed and delivered in F-7 as usual. Hopes someone picks up F 4 soon and that end of the loop will be filled with ASers.
Talked to the Hosts before we left and he complimented the group on friendliness and attitude is looking forward to seeing us in the Fall; He has added us to his calender.

This recipe was also requested:
I tripled this recipe, and threw in a couple tablespoons of Grand Marnier (orange liqueur), just because. . I made three large logs of dough, then cut those in half to freeze. They don't spread, so you can place them close together on your baking sheet, and they keep very well in an airtight container.
Rather like a good shortbread, and I would think dried cherries could be substituted for dried cranberries, with equally good results.
Pistachio-Cranberry Icebox Cookies
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. (I left this out)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon finely grated fresh orange zest
1/2 cup shelled pistachios
1/3 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup decorative sugar (preferably coarse)
Blend butter, sugar and orange zest, add slowly the blended dry ingredients til thoroughly mixed, then mix in the pistachios and dried cranberries.
Shape into 2-3 logs, roll in sugar in the parchment paper, wrap and refrigerate, or freeze.
Preheat oven to 350", slice cookies at about 1/4", bake 15-18 minutes, cool on wire rack. Keep about 5 days at room temperature.
Molasses Crinkles have been specifically requested for the fall rally.

Hello All; The recipe for the SALTED NUT BARS
1-12-16 oz jar Salted Dry Roasted Peanuts(jar size depends on what you buy)
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 1/2 Tablespoons Butter or Margarine(butter makes bar more delicious)
1-12 oz bag Peanut Butter Chips (10 oz bag works too)
1-10.5 oz bag Miniature Marshmallows
In a large microwave dish/bowl mix together milk, butter/marg & chips. Microwave
30 seconds; STIR WELL; microwave another 30 seconds; stir so all chips are melted.
Add marshmallows & peanuts to melted mixture. Mix well; press lightly into a greased pan(spray with butter flavor nonstick spray). Cool in refrigerator. Cut into bars.
Tastes best refrigerated. Enjoy!
Culinary Comment: Excellent product.....hard to eat just one serving!

You know the fact that we have pulled off 13 years without potluck rain is pretty remarkable. This year was the first time we have had to interrupt the movie due to weather. You did get the Airstream related video in first. It looks like you all had a good time.

Fall rally
My new wife and my old Airstream 345 motorhome plan to attend
If the old girl (motorhome) can make the trip
We have reserved the sight 014
We do not have a kayak.
just going to meet some fellow airstreamers and enjoy some hotdogs over the fire.
So I have a few questions
First of all will there be any Classic motorhomes going to the fall rally?
Also would like to know if anybody has suggestions on what rout I should take coming from the Chicago aera (o hare)
I'm worried about construction and not having any emergency lane to pull of on in case of trouble
I90 going west from my house I consider unusable there's at least 30 miles of 2 lane concrete barrier with NO emergency lane I don't even like taking it with my daily driver much less a 31 year old RV down that death trap
I figure my choices are
294 south to 55 to near the park... Or
Should I try to get on 39 south and take it down
Hoping to get down there sometime Friday evening.

Good for you,! We'll be glad to have you.
I would suggest 55 south, picking up 74 west at Bloomington. Take it to the Leroy exit and follow the signs.
We will look for you Friday.

I agree with Maggie. We live in Chicago right near O'Hare. We are taking I55 only we take a shortcut by going to County Hwy 9 (PJ Kelly Hwy) and take Exit 178. Then we take N 2600 East Rd/Leroy-Lexington Blacktop to E 900 North Rd in Dawson Township. Maggie's route keeps you on the highway which is the safest way to go if you are concerned about breakdowns, etc. One great app for your smart phone/android/iPhone is "Waze" which is FREE. It will route you around easily and let you know about accidents, traffic due to debris in the road, red light cameras (very popular in and around Chicago, , and any police speed traps. If it doesn't give you a direct route, there is a very good reason.
PS Last time we went to Moraine we had the pleasure of following that shiny Bowlus Road Chief! I have so many photos of it making the curves with the blue sky and trees reflecting off of it etc. Hey, are they going to be there?
