Beautiful day at Moraine View. Actually the first in memory where air conditioning wasn't necessary.Click image for larger version

Not the first by all means. We've been about 50/50 regarding the need for AC over the years. In most cases this particular weekend seems to signify the end of spring and the beginning of the hot summer. Last year it was cool and I remember on the Sunday we pulled out the heat started to build and the following weekend was a scorcher as was the balance of June into July. That's sort of why I've always done this on that second weekend of June. We seem to be just getting out of the rainy spring patterns and just prior to the summer heat. 12 years now running and we've never lost a Saturday pot luck or movies to rain! We came close one year but we've never had this weekend washed out.

It's absolutely wonderful here in St. Louis and given you're about 200 miles further north, it has to be even better!

Back during our first Moraine View Rally in 2008 several fine gentlemen decided it was time that we open the Carefree awning on our '74 Ambassador for the first time. It took some effort but they got it open and better yet -- rolled back up.

That awning has long since been replaced by a new Zip Dee. We still remember the fun we had at that first Moraine View Rally and subsequent rallies as everyone checked out our renovation progress.

We miss seeing you all this year and look forward to catching up with you again. So many good friends in our hearts and in our memories at this rally.

Eric aka Silvertwinkie and I just just did a video Skype. Was great to see you all! Thanks for the well wishes for Patty. Hard to believe I'm siting here with my iPad on the hospital WiFi and Eric is using his Mac and a hotspot. Who would have thought 12 years ago when this rally was in its first get together that so many of us would be here today and in my case doing a video chat? Wow...

Enjoy that good weather that I ordered up and stay warm tonight. Might be a little cool at movie time!

Jack

Home, and thanks to all for another great weekend at Moraine View.

A lovely and enjoyable group of people.

Special thanks to all who helped with the little quilts for House of Hope, to Eric & Todd who jumped my dead battery this morning , to Joan for breakfast and Roger who helped me with the awning.

Jack, sorry I missed you last night. Hope Patty is up and running again soon.

Thanks Maggie. I did pass your wishes to Patty. Glad you made it there. I knew you would be in good hands for this trip! Hope to see you all next year!

We had a great time reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones this weekend. Our first time at this rally but not our last, looking forward to next time.

I mentioned Alice (mcair) and Dana's (Airtandem) special contributions on another thread, but want to mention them here, as well.

Alice created for me a beautiful, rose-covered memory quilt, complete with photos of Doug & I, as well as spearheading the small fleece quilts we put together for the House of Hope.

Dana brought me a box of crocheted snuggly animals and small blankets, for children at the House of Hope.

So sweet, and so thoughtful.

Thank you both so much.
