You all are fun. I always think of you when I see the "Lime-a-Rita" commercials! We don't see too many (actually not any) commercials for tomato wine but I'd think of Jerry if we did!

I'll bring my ever so discreet opaque "to go" glass to greet them.

P.S. Dana, will you please make the Asian slaw you made last time again -- or give me the recipe again? I can't locate mine. I'm thinking you did something clever like take a picture of the recipe instead of writing it all out again.

We will not be able to make it, actually, we're going to be on a short camping list most of the year... We just sold our house and are building a new one. Yikes! Exciting, but scary at the same time. We won't have as much free time, but know that we'll be there paddling the lake in spirit!
Have a great 2013 y'all!

It had broccoli. I don't think it had Ramen noodles -- but it may have -- it had something crunchy in it. I'm a lot of help, aren't I?

Ok as of 5/4 here is the updated list. Still wondering who has F4? I'll probably start the list shortly for the pot luck food on Saturday night. Hotdog fest still planned for Friday!
Let's just hope some of the spring rains will finally have wrung out. After the drought of last year, March and April rains have recharged the ground moisture and then some. It's always interesting to gage the temperature and rain status by the height of the corn that we pass as we cross the US 136 between I55 and I74. I'm hearing that many farms aren't planted yet due to the wet grounds.
Just a reminder that you can still reserve sites and if you get there Thursday or early Friday, there are ample non reservable sites close by!

Hey all,
I've been attending the airmidwest rally but it keeps moving farther and farther west. I'm curious do you all do a fall rally too or just a spring one? I can't make your spring dates this year but Morraine View looks pretty close to St. Louis so I'm thinking maybe fall? Let me know ok

This rally is a spring one. Usually the second weekend in June. Sorry you can't make it.

One of the things I love about this rally is that more often than not, it is on the second weekend in June. That makes it great for planning. In the five years we've been going, it was only moved once (to the third weekend in June).
We'd love to have you join us next year if you can't make it this year. This rally is fun and informal and you are right, it's not that far from St. Louis. Every year we have "first timers" and "several timers" and "many timers." It is one of our favorite gatherings.

In actuality I've moved it once in 11 years and that was due to me having to work that weekend. Another interesting fact is that of those attending, 4 have been here for every rally. The date was chosen with the idea that this was the first weekend the kids would be out of school and we would at the end of the spring rains and prior to the summer heat.

And, it's a good weekend choice, IMO. .
This is year 5 for us, I think, and weather has ranged from very cool to very hot. We are having such a nice spring this year, I hope that bodes well for moderate temps for the rally this year.

Yep I remember years where we got so close to the fire that we softened the soles of our sneakers, and years where it was so hot that no one considered a fire! We started with 14 at our first rally and have had as many as 42 before gas got so high.
Here's a couple of pictures from year 1.

We have had a pretty good crowd every year we have been there, and I write people all the time and suggest they come to this rally.
Not only lots of nice folks but we are, after all, just about smack dab in the middle if the country!
Is it June, yet? What is the weather going to be like? I saw this great Prosecco (shhhh!) and pureed raspberries drink recipe that would be fun to try some morning, but it is a warm weather beverage.

It's funny but when this rally was first proposed, no one could come to agreement as to where it should be. I stepped in and looked at all the suggestions, looked at where people were coming from and picked Moraine View. It was 250 miles or less from everyone who planned to come. Obviously since I picked the spot I became the organizer. Funny how those things turn out.
