Just a reminder that you can still reserve sites and if you get there Thursday or early Friday, there are ample non reservable sites close by! So far this is the biggest turn out we have had since moving down by the lake. Thanks everyone for coming!

With the long range weather forecast, do you think there is a need for dining canopies? They would be for shade, NOT drops from the sky. We could use them over the dining tables.

Since the weather service can't even get the current conditions right many times why would you put any faith whatsoever is any long range weather forecast?

Long range forecast at this point shows highs in the 70's with the best chance of some scattered showers on Friday. We only had one year when the rain came close to dinner that I think someone brought a canopy that we used to cover the tables holding the food. As it ended up we had no rain. Sunshine hasn't been an issue in the past.By 6 pm it's getting lower in the sky.

The long range stuff has been bouncing around. A few days back they were talking about 90's. So obviously by Monday we should have some good projections. Here's my source. Weather in Le Roy - AccuWeather Forecast for IL 61752

It doesn't look like we'll have serious weather extremes, one way or the other. That is good.

Personally, tho JC is certainly CEO here, dining canopies are always a good idea to have around. Ya never know if the rains may hit.

My vegetable dish for Saturday will have corn in it. I love corn. . And, bacon, and polenta, and a bit of cheese and sliced green onions. Hot, not cold.

No doubt after doing this rally for the previous 10 years without a rain out, the odds of this dry streak staying intact is always in the back of my mind. Doing the canopy for sun isn't really necessary unless you really have exposure issues. But having a canopy in reserve if the drops fall is always handy. I don't have one due to the fact that we've always ducked under the big awning on our Classic when we are out by ourselves.

Forecast is beginning to firm up. My major concern is Saturday evening at this point. The early forecasts show general rain Saturday night. Saturday day should be fine up until evening. We are still over a week out on the forecasts, so things can change. My early thoughts if the rain forecast holds true, we might push dinner to 5 pm and forgo the movie. I don't want to set up an amp, and video equipment with the chance of it getting wet. The good side is with today's technology we can look at the local radar and know for sure what and when the rain will come.

I have a new application on my iPad that is called Dark Skies. I've been using it here at home and it is usually spot on with rain with a detailed 2 hour window of prediction time. It also has a radar component with it so we can see the extent of the rain along with the timing factors. It counts down the time before rain hits giving you warnings and then minute timeframes. I've heard it go off in the early am sometimes telling me rain will begin in 10 minutes. Enough time for me to get the dogs out before the rain hits.
