Mississippi Palisades- Galena, IL 2004

Here are some pics (finally) of the small group we had at Mississippi Palisades State Park...with a small trip to Galena down the road a piece.

Some pics courtesy of John HD.

Computers manufactured by companies such as IBM, Compaq and millions of others are by far the most popular with about 70 million machines in use worldwide. Macintosh fans note that cockroaches are far more numerous than humans and that numbers alone do not denote a higher life form. -NY Times 11/91

This was the campground where my wife and spotted a 1967 Caravel owned by one of the camphosts. I believe he lived in or around Oregon, Ill. It was just at the entrance to the campground. We talked with the owner, and he expressed interest in selling for about $7000.00

This seemed like a pretty good deal considering: he was the original owner, garage kept (it looked it!), had parts/rebuild kits for all mechanicals including the old P&R water pump, service records, manuals, etc. Everything was in original, excelent condition.

Long story short, the deal fell through, and thus began our search until we decided on our 19' CCD. If he has sold it since, whoever got it, has a nice old trailer.

We also drove around to see some of the Army Corp(?) campgrounds, which seemed real nice, and also right on the Miss. River.

Sometimes I wish I were living in the stone age. Then I would know I'm the smartest person in the world.
