Talking Midwest Rally Announcement

OK folks, we are setting the date and location.

June 6, 7, 8th (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Moraine View
State Recreation Area (Gander Bay Campground)
27374 Moraine View Park Rd.
LeRoy, IL 61752
309.724.8032

The location is near Bloomington Illinois and if you go to the map link below you will find major interstate highway access from all directions.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...submit=Get+Map

Directions to the campground are on the Moraine View website link below.

http://www.dnr.state.il.us/lands/Lan...HTM#Directions

We will be staying in the Gander Bay campground. All sites have electric. There is fresh water supplies scattered within the campground and there is a bathouse. There is also a dump station.

Note that reservations are by mail only. I have already checked and very few people have reserved on this weekend. There are 61 sites. Here is the link to the reservation form.

http://www.dnr.state.il.us/lands/Lan...rvcamprsvp.pdf

Note that if you mark your reservation "Airstream Group", they will try to keep us all next to each other. When you fill out the form send $16 for your first night's reservation. Additional nights will be $11 and will be collected by park personnel upon your arrival at the campground.

Those who want to arrive earlier or stay later can adjust their dates on their reservation form.

Since this is a public facility and not far from some major metropolitan areas, space will be limited. There is no doubt that the campgrounds will be full if you wait until a week or two before reserving. Get your reservations mailed early! You will receive a written confirmation from the park.

Hope to see you there and let us know if you make a reservation.

Regards,

Jack

Mark your reservation "Airstream Group"

Midwest Rally Announcement

Greetings Eric and Jack!

I will get my reservations in the mail this afternoon. It will be returning to familiar ground for me as I attended Illinois State University in Normal for my first two years in college in the late 1970s; and I now live less than three hours away.

If all goes as planned, I will be towing my '64 Overlander with the '99 Suburban - - may try the '75 Cadillac if my confidence level in its abilities improves.

I have three ice cream freezers as well as two dutch ovens that I can pack should a pot luck be in the plans; or if the group would like to have homemade ice cream during one of the social times.

Kevin

Will be looking forward to see you Kevin. So far we will be informal with this first gathering. So we will see what plans are made as we get closer to the date.

If any of you going want to be more formal, then step up to the plate! We can always use your organizational skills.

Since water will not be at each site, we might be able to work out a hose brigade that will allow us to top off fresh water tanks if necessary. Bring extra hose if you have got it!

Regards,

Jack

Midwest rally???

How can you folks have fun when we can't make it ? Have to be in Door Co. Wisc for that week-end. Would have been a great run from up North. Snow would just be getting off the roads.Hope all goes well & perhaps next year. Don't go getting to organized. Toga's & ice cream ? not good.

Spent a week in Door County just after Labor Day so I don't feel too bad for you. Some nice country up there.

Will try to stay loose...although I can't vouch for Silvertwinkie.

I'm sure we will meet somewhere else.

Regards,

Jack

Hey, this is really great! Does the group have an idea as to how many may be attending so far? I sort of lost track of the rally thing and just took note again. I thought the camp ground sounded nice and said something like," I would vote for it if we had an a/s." Ahem, as of Thursday last week we do! Now, I'm not sure what our schedule is yet but just the possibility of being able to attend sounds like fun.

Suz,

Congratulations on your purchase!

At this point we have two confirmed reservations and one person has mailed theirs.

Since the park is public I would advise you making a reservation since it will fill as we approach June. Note that you can cancel up to 3 days prior to arrival. Your initial depost would be $16 which $5 would be non refundable if you cancel ($11 refundable). You will pay for your balance ($11 a night) upon arrival.

Heck for $5 why not reserve and be assured of a spot. Just make sure to mark the reservation form "Airstream Group", since they are putting us in adjoining camp sites.

Hope to see you there!

Regards,

Jack
