Food talk in April will be fine, but do you think our puppies are safe?

Not sure....

Eric, Jack et al

Not sure if I can attend the rally...

#1 ) Little league, and my kids come first - the future and all THAT!

#2 ) It seems that 4 legged invitees are fine, but the 2 legged kind - like me the and the wife, not to mention the kids ( not past PUPA! stage yet ) are seemingly and lightly glossed over.... Not sure where the humor is there 2air/ "peg leg".... lightly done parre not withstanding. Ha ha

#3) Middle of June is our minimum date for being here at home base. Family and other obligations - not to mention the tourists are EVERWHERE!!!! Don't like the crowds - unless they are of the AS persuasion.

#4) Forums 'crowd' is likely more to my general liking, but well, when is there going to be a wingding out this way???????????? I CAN help - give me a time and a date on PM!

Ciao

Axel

LOOK OUT! We're giving fair warning, we are in and will be bringing the Spinone Sisters with us. This will be our first rally so let us know what to expect and what we should bring.

CU soon

Axel, while this is called the Midwest Forums Rally, it really isn't sponsored by the Forums itself. For those of you who weren't here in the beginning, 4 years ago a lot of folks talked about getting together for a rally in the midwest. A lot of places were bantered about with no decision on a place that was suitable for everybody. Bottom line I jumped in and said we are going to this place and sort of settled the debate. Now if I was willing to stick my neck out and say we are going somewhere, I better do my homework regarding the arrangements and promotion.

Quite honestly I do little more than get the ball rolling and provide what little organization I can muster. The nice part is the folks who show up and bring the food, the giveaways, and all the other things that make this a fun event.

I guess I'm saying this because anyone of you can get a "Forums" rally going on in your neck of the woods. It's a matter of just doing it, and maybe a few folks being the spark plug to get the process going. Here we are 4 years later and still plugging away and still having fun doing this.

Oh Axel, please don't take offense. I have been following this thread and I was so sorry to see the misunderstanding arise. It was a play on words hot dogs and brats, with brats being one of those words that spell alike but have two meanings. I am sure there was no discourtesy intended. The term does not have the negative conitation anymore. It is almost a term of teasing endearment. People say rug rats, brats, even kids. A kid is a goat, you know, some people didn't even like that term and it is so widely used as brat is here. I only interpreted the remarks as humor. No one would deliberately set out to insult or exclude a rally mate. Besides you know bunnies and how they multiply so fast, so how could a silly wabbit possibly be against offspring, the more the better?!

I can't help with any of your other numbers, but I feel I should chime in here as a goodwill ambassador regarding number two....

I can assure you that your children are welcome, especially if you basically follow campground rules, as well as common sense.. a lot of people don't, and then it gives camping with kiddies a terrible name.

But the exact same can be said for dogs!

I asked how many people were bringing their pups just to bump the thread up to the top, and open conversation.

Those of us without "real" kids love to talk about our furbabies. (My kids are grown and gone, although one son is developmentally delayed and functions at the 6 to 12 year level, and HE goes camping. If he bugs people, I tell him to quit it. And he has been known to bug people. But he also carries firewood and walks the dogs :-)

From where you live, it's a loooong trip, but you are certainly welcome. I'll feed you (and your kids) popcorn at the movies. We're (the side of our camper) the movie theatre :-)

Now, if I can just get Norbert to come up with something REALLY yummy.. he's the best cook amongst us!

But he's fixated on JRT soup... eeeeeeek!

cheers

and how many are bringing brats......the 2 legged kind?

I laughed for about five minutes...can't wait for the "brats" to experience your humor again in person. They really enjoyed your sarcasm and wit...as Laura & I did...Don't forget to stop by for a cocktail (chocolate milk).

I think Jake had a life altering experience... hanging with your "big" dog and Chris' "Buffit" helped Jake get over his fear of big dogs. As I've told him a hundred times "Its the owners that you have to watch out for!" Thanks.
