It would be a sad joke, Rachelle, except that don't the people who are participating in the Special Olympics sometimes seem like the happiest ones on the planet?

I wouldn't be too sad if I had someone whom I 1000% trusted to do absolutely everything for me, all my needs were met, everybody around me loves me, and I had a great event like Special Olympics to attend.

That's my son's life :-)

I've been in long term care work for MANY MANY years , and things are much, much different today than in the past.
We see a LOT more pride and smiles.

Rachelle,
Hopefully when the roadwork is completed people won't drive by so fast they don't stop to shop.
Joe,
Bring seals for your wheels and we can do the bearings if you are really serious.
Will need more evidence of wild turkeys though.

Summerkid,
You better watch it! With an offer like that the lineup may be longer than your trailer.

Unhappy Rough Day in Airstream Land

Pulled the GlobeTrotter out of her parking spot today getting ready for theBig Event.
Plugged in the juice. Finished fixing the leaky DWV. Exterminated the wasps living in the kitchen vent. Sanitized the fresh water tank and checked the plumbing. Took out one of the bullet lights and took it down to the workshop in the basement for tightening (hanging by the wire is not good). Stripped the peeling paint off the bumper. Repaint tomorrow. Checked the propane, stove, water heater OK. Checked the fridge.
Oh S____! WARM. ZIP. NADA. Got power. Heater's working. Vents and fins are clear.
Run inside, search the Net for new fridges. AGGGHHH. Might as well by a new trailer.
Click up the Forum. New post on Dometic fridges. Might be blocked. Turn it upside down in case it's blocked. Yeah, I can do that.
In case you were wondering it only takes and hour and a half to take out a fridge. Only have to disassemble half the counter, saw the tops off long studs holding it to the floor. Grind the head off a rusted screw and use the big crow bar to pry it out of the coach.
Its 10:30. OK, Thanks for letting me vent. Nothing like a cold beer and sandwich to calm the troubled soul.
Were coming hell or high water, got a back up plan if the fridge is a goner. Might not look pretty but it's functional.
See you all Friday,
Tom and Sue.

You can feel free to keep your milk and perishables in OUR fridge, if that will help. We had a scare when we plugged in Luna this afternoon.. balky ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AC!! But it did finally crank on. You can hang beef in there :-)Other than that, all's well here.. we didn't even get a mouse last winter :-)

You can also keep some stuff in our fridge too.

I think if I was this close to an outing, I might just drop by the local Walmart or Lowes and pick up one of those small electric units. Not too big an expenditure and will keep things pretty cold.

I just brought the Classic home from the storage lot. I'll sanitize the holding tank tomorow after work. Check tires and the like Thursday morning. I put it away inside clean last Sunday so not much more to do than pack and wash the windows behind the front rock guards.

Don't forget your bird stuff...obviously we all owning an Airstream product and gathering here on the Forum are also birds of a feather (ah you see my logic behind the theme ). Hmmmm....why do I see the crowd of birds all sitting on the wire together???? Just don't stand too long underneath!

Jack

Illinois Hwy Construction

I'm glad to see nobody else spent the weekend grooming their best silver salutes ...

Knowing most states have websites with summer construction, I found their citizens' DOT website, http://www.gettingaroundillinois.com/. Clicking on the Road Construction link led to a mapquest-type map you can zoom and scroll around. Interesting...

Can anyone report particularly Airstream-unfriendly (gravel?) road projects to avoid?

See ya there!
