Firewood restrictions increasing

I made reservations for Thursday night at a state park near Madison, WI, so we could visit our daughter on the way to Illinois. Wisconsin is one of several midwest states now restricting or banning bringing firewood to parks.

Just a heads up. Guess if everybody pops for a bundle of firewood from the Moraine View folks (except Jack!) we'll more than be able to chase the bugs away each night. See more discussion at this thread.

I heard on the news yesterday that a new bug that kills trees was found and there are a lot of folks worrying as they did when the Asian Longhorn Beetle was found around here. I heard something about a ban here too. Might be related.

**edit** just saw your link...yup, they are related.

Early Forecast

Well it's early but here is the 10 day forecast for the Moraine View State Park area.

So far it looks delightful for the rally.

Man, are you guys gonna have a blast!!!! Graduation duties call for thurs and friday, but the good news for us is we are going to try and make an escape to Porcupine MT. SP right after that. Never been there but sounds nice.

have a great time and think of my BBQ ribs for next year hopefully.

Jonathan -- We tent camped at the Porky S.P. in 1988. A slight onshore breeze pushed enough warmed Lake Superior surface water into the bay east of the park that you could swim -- a first! The camping area is lovely on unusually shelving ... I'd almost guess sandstone.

We'll miss you but more to the point -- what great dish will you be forwarding to Moraine View?

Would anybody be interested in checking their tongue weight? If there is sufficient interest, I will bring my hydraulic gage.
