Hey! I remember one summer in my childhood we spent at this resort place called "Sunnybrook Farm," (imagine: the resort that Baby and her family from Dirty Dancing stayed at - minus the seductive dancing and free love.....well, maybe there was free love but I was seven and eating a snowcone and learning how to square dance) They had a contest that you had to use things that you had in your suitcase to make a costume. My mother constructed a very cool batman costume for my brother from Duck tape, paper bags, and black garbage bags! (thinking - mom could use a special present this Mother's day) Jack, I bet I can get mom to make you one! Don't worry, you can wear your boa with it if you like.

"All things feathered" did mean to dress like a bird, right?

I was just imagining Jack and myself, dressed as BoaBatboy and BirdGirl, flying around Moraine View: protecting the Airstream group from the forces of evil when it occurred to me, what was my mom doing with Duck tape and garbage bags in her suitcase at an all inclusive family resort?

Dress, wear, display.....I leave this to everyone's imagination....after all feathered dosen't necessarily always mean bird does it??? That's what's so great about us forum folk. Everyone looks at things differently. Hmmm...boabatboy?

Well my better half thought that "All things Feathered" theme needed a little refining. So her suggestion was to change this theme slightly and call it "Birds of a Feather". I guess I can accept that thought since I guess our gathering does evoke some flocking thoughts.

When I think of flocks though, I think of how I try to avoid them. Something like a patterned bombing run. I remember my brand new virgin awing being rolled out at a lake shore camping site up in Mackinaw Michigan, only to be bombed by swooping gulls soaring between the water and the shore.

Thoughts for Saturday night food.

OK folks time to start thinking food thoughts for the Saturday night pot luck. I'll keep track of the food on the same list as the attendees. The idea is that you contribute a dish that you can share amongst 4-6 people. The dish can be salad, starch, vegetable, desert, appetizer, casserole etc. My suggestion is that a main course be for you only. For example Patty and I might BBQ some steaks or chicken for us only. Now if you feel generous and want to do something bigger, go for it.

I know in our local WBCCI unit they usually divide up the alphabet and say A-H brings a salad, I-M brings a starch, etc. But I'd rather you all bring what you feel comfortable with, what fits into your trailer, and things you personally like. So far for 3 years running, we've never run short or had too many of the same things. So all I ask is that you tell us what you want to bring. I'll post the list, and if you see too much of one item, consider something else.

BTW, we will be eating at 6PM on Saturday so plan accordingly and remember that 6 is eating time, not the time to start cooking.

Agenda for the rally

I will be printing up a formal agenda this year to give to each of you attending the rally. We will have our usual give aways that will be your gifts for attendance. I won't tell you what we are giving away this year other than to tell you that you will receive attendance gifts from Bill Thomas Camper Sales (my local Airstream dealer), and from Andy-R.

We also plan to have some attendance drawings for some other Airstream related prizes donated by others so make sure you hang around Saturday night after dinner and just before the start of the movies.

We will have a PA system this year and with the bigger crowd, you all should be able to hear the general announcements and the sound from the movies.

I'll publish a list soon of the folks who graciously have provided things like the PA, LCD projector, sharing of their site, and generous gifts. I thank them for their generosity since their help really makes this a special event for everyone.

I'll keep you all informed about any last minute changes and if you do have questions please ask. So far we are still at 31 for the attendance. It looks like we will not see more than 2 from the GSL WBCCI unit. Our president put out a plea for attendees but with the International on the west coast some of our folks will be leaving early to accommodate the distance. The others left behind....I just don't know. This is a radically different rally than what they are accustomed to and my gut feeling has to be the lack of structure is not their cup of tea. Oh well it's their loss, so come one and all. There is still room for those of you sitting on the fence.

Regards,

Jack
