Relaxing back at home and having the leftover chili for dinner. Stopped to dump at Finger Lakes on the way home. Found out they have 4.5 mile "kayak trail" through a series of interconnected lakes. Sounds like a good day trip for next years rally. They are on Hwy 63 just north of Columbia.

We are home, having found a place to dump about an hour from the house.

I was so concerned Lily would find duck poop to roll in at Rudolph Bennitt...which she avoided.....but promptly rolled in rabbit poop in her own back yard.

Lily's version of "Yippee! I'm home!". I wrestled her into the bathtub and scrubbed her down.

Thanks everyone, for sharing your beautiful boondocking spot.

Genie & I made it home just a bit ago (Jo Ann beat us by a couple hours). Uneventful trip home--i.e. nothing flew off the roof and into the trailer-- and even found diesel for $3.23/gal in Camdenton. Woo-Hoo! Life is good. So glad everyone came and I think we all had a great time. Anyone up for a spring Boondock...?

Spring boondock would be great!
Pick a weekend after tax season and we'll be there.

As requested....the scone recipe.

Buttermilk Scones

2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons cold butter
1/2 cup buttermilk or sour cream
1 egg

Mix dry ingredients, cut in butter til crumbly. Beat buttermilk and egg together, and add to flour mixture. Stir just til moistened and scrape out onto floured surface. Pull the dough together into a mound, working just enough to get it together, then pat dough to about 1/2" thick. Cut in half, then quarters, then eighths....making eight triangles. Separate and place on cookie sheet, or cast iron griddle or skillet. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven about 12 minutes, til golden brown.

The Winners!

In all the dutch oven excitement at the pot-luck, we forgot to announce the fishing contest winners, so we announced it at breakfast Sunday morning. We couldn't quite decide first and second place between the two bluegill (could it have been the same one?!?) Luckily there were two prizes!

Good job guys!

Deep Cycle Batteries and Generators.....Oh My!

Thank you everyone for a fun filled weekend of Boondocking.
We gained some more knowledge about the capabilities of our Airstream.

I appreciated the assistance with charging my batteries to get us through those chilly nights.
When I got home, I put each 12 volt Interstate battery on a smart charger and discovered one of them had failed, which explains why they kept draining down so quickly. Now I need to decide on whether to tow the AS to Bill Thomas in Wentzville for warranty replacement or just buy a new battery here locally and save the time and fuel. [Me thinks I'll be shopping locally]

Hope to see you all again......."down the road" .

Cheers

Eric,

If you are sure the batteries themselves are bad, try going to a local Interstate dealer. The batteries used to have a 2 year warranty, but that was changed to 1 year, they can check them out and replace if you show when you bought your trailer.

If you go to Bill Thomas, they can check and verify that the charging system in the trailer is functional. If it's not, then they can replace the charging system and batteries at the same time.

I'll check in to it in January. Everyone want to stick with Bennitt SP or do we want to look around at other parks?
