wood
I imagine that the Ash borer is no respecter of state lines so northern Ohio is probably as bad as southern Michigan. If you have not been in southern Michigan in a couple of years it will be a shock. ALL of the Ash trees are dead or dying. The entire lower peninsula is now quarantined Level I but the beetles have been found in the UP now too. It is a sad thing to see all of one species of tree being killed. Another blight just like the Elms and the Chestnuts before them.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture recommends buying wood in the area where you are camped and burn it all there.
Quote:
All types of firewood can transport invasive pests other than EAB such as Beech Bark Disease, Asian Longhorned Beetle, Sirex Woodwasp, and Gypsy Moth. Help protect Michigan's natural resources by following this simple firewood recommendation: Buy firewood when you reach your destination and burn it all on site.
|
IF we get the Silver Dog House back from Grand Rapids in time to come we would be glad to contribute to the purchase of a pickup load of local firewood.

More Newbies!
This will be awesome to meet new folks and see some new trailers. I know Rhonda will need a kid count from anyone that has not already let her know. So please post up the kids ages for Rhonda, as we do not want to leave anyone out.
Ralph, please do not post yourself as a kid again, you have already been counted!!

We need a count down to rally time!
I called KC today and they said there is around 18 registered, and I know there will be 2 or more SOB's plus Steve in the '58 Pacer (the only Pacer known to have a factory installed round port-hole window in the bathroom, I have to say that or he will get mad at me).
Come on Carol we have the whole center section there is plenty of room left hitch it back up...please .

We are glad to hear that you both made it home safe and sound. And we are looking forward to see the new "toy" at the rally. When did you say that you were leaving to drive up??

I'll be leaving Lorain about 4 or 5. So probably be there around 8. Of course, if this trip is like any others this year, it will probably be midnight
