Thumbs up

I remember Whimpy's... good burgers. And for one of my birthdays my mother brought me and my friends to an ice cream parlor that served giant killers, yup if you ate it it was free. LOL Mom's deal was barbecue from Russel's. Or a ride to get a foot long through the drive-through. Or there was Superdawg on Milwaukee with "suddensery" which meant fast drive in service.

I remember as a kid living in Lapeer MI. my mom would drag me and my brother around The Fair (clothing store at the mall in Flint) for hours and then as a reward would take us to get a Halo Burger.....good stuff. Big Johns (sub shop) was tasty too.

I hit enter instead of shift; lets try it again.

I moved to Michigan in April of 1996 from southern Ohio. I know all about Skyline and Gold Star Chili, Walt's Hitching Post, Montgomery Ribs, drinking Dunkel Beer and eating beer cheese and pretzels in the Hoffbrau Haus. Oktoberfest at the Germanic Park on the Great Miami River, but I know nothing about anything y'all are talking about. Let's rally or meet near any of these things and show a hillbilly from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountians something new.
like a fine wine, bill

Just finished replacing all the clearance lights on Nixon. All he needs now is a bath a quick towel massage and he is ready to roll once again.

Gold Star and Skyline are still here BIG as EVER. They probably have added a few since you left.I have never had enough money for the Montgomery Inn or OLD Hickory .Those places are known all over the country. Wait in line for hrs to get a table. Really not for me.
I'm more the MOM's and HYDE'S Restaurant type.
Sometimes simple is better.

Facebook

Hey Rhonda and Carol-I'm new to the whole facebook thing as well. I've been having fun with it for the past couple of weeks. Last night I found my half-sister. I haven't seen her for 21 years! We sent a couple of messages back and forth. How cool is that?

Yeah Jess... me too. Amazing. I had a half brother that I never knew about until my mother passed on. Somewhat eerie with the words now in hind sight that she spoke to me... and how do you know you don't have a brother locked up in the closet somewhere? Only child "misssyndrom!"

Must be my roots and how I developed so well adjusted!

Facebook Is very intriguing thus far!!!!

Hi Mike, We would go to Montgomery Ribs for a special occasions every couple of years. On the other hand, we hit Gold Star and Skyline at least once or twice every trip we make south. If you have not been to the Hoffbrau Haus in Covington kentucky, you should give it a try. Ask to sit in the Beer Hall. Go when it's warm so you can sit in the outdoor Beer Garden while you wait for a table. Young woman in frilly dresses will deliver you pretzels and beer cheese and of course some big mugs of their dark beer. Cross the river on the blue metal bridge next to the coliseum (between the suspension and big yellow bridge) as soon as you cross the river into Covington, make a left and it is down a block or two on the right. We try to visit once a summer. Everybody should sing to the um-pa-pa in the Beer Hall every once in a while.
Roll out the barrel, bill
