Wow what a cool pic of the whole tribe Dave & Rhonda.. Thanks for the X-Mas Card with that photo!!! Great Idea!!!.... X-Mas in July was pretty neat.. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Cant quite see Rudy,, Was he in the recovery stage at photo time????

Hello Metro-Detroiters,
Just wanted to give a plug to a neat museum Derek and I visited today. It's the RV Heritage Museum and Hall of Fame in Elkhart, IN. If you've never been, it's worth the trip - just for the vintage trailers alone. They had (almost) everything, from a 1913 Earl Travel Trailer and Model T Ford to Yellowstones, Serro Scotty's, Covered Wagon house trailers, Mae West's old housecar and a bunch of others. No airstreams, though. But don't despair - Airstream is currently "building" their display area and will have a baby on display soon.

One of the great things about this museum is that aside from a couple of units (like the 1913 Earl and Mae West's housecar) you could walk inside and look around. I think I opened every drawer and closet imaginable.

Derek and I were the only two at the museum, so the greeter/docent/jack-of-all-trades took us into the not-yet-opened wing that had another collection of vintage trailers that had just been donated. The fun didn't stop there, as Al (I'll give you his history next) let us get into two absolutely stunning units. Once these go on display, the public won't be able to get inside so we felt rather priviledged.

More on Al......as mentioned, he's was serving as the greeter/docent/jack-of-all-trades. He's also the author of the book "The dumb things sold just like that" a History of the Recreational Vechicle Industry in America. Really interesting, exceptionally nice man (especially since he gave us the behind the scenes tour).

If you ever get a chance to visit the museum, you won't be disappointed. Derek and I spent about four hours touring and perusing their library.

You don't know how close Rudy was to making an appearance in your front yard! We tried to coax him him out, but he was too afraid without the entire strike team to watch over him.
