How About Glennie?

I hope nobody minds if I chime in? Rhonda and I head up to Glennie to Alcona Park every year. It is very large park that is on the Ausable Dam. There is good fishing and Alcona Canoe rental is about a mile away. Glennie is on Hwy-65 about an hour north of Standish. The park is owned by the power company (DTE or Consumers which ever) and rates are good. Just an idea since ya'll are looking in the area.

Welcome and invite to all

Yes, welcome to Renee, the 60's era are my current favorite, but I'm biased.

And to all of you who have been reading, this rally is not an exclusive event. Any and all who want to attend, even despite Airstream/Argosy ownership, are welcome. If you don't have an AS, if you're just looking, or if you just like what you read and want to find out if everyone is as crazy as they sound here (Ralph, Carol and Lou in particular), please sign up and come to the rally! If you're out of state (I'm looking at you, greater Chicagoland!), out of country, you're welcome. Don't be shy, god knows we aren't!

Alcona

John,

I will see what I can find for a map. Yes we are in again this year, in fact we wish we could all get together more often.

My husband and I just bought our first AS ('64 Trade Wind). We're located in Kalamazoo, MI and want to keep "Felix" pretty close to home this year as we get the hang of being an AS owner. Is there any room at your '07 Detroit/Metro rally for newbies???

Thanks,
Renee
HI Renee and (insert husband's name here)!
Of course there is room for newbies! This is actually only the third rally we have planned. It has affectionately been nicknamed "Lou-A-Palooza" by some.
We do have to "initiate" you and (insert husband's name here) on your first night of rally festivities. I am trying to come up with something embarassing but being seen with all of us "charter LPPI members" is usually embarassing enough!
As for getting the hang of owning an AS it would be much better if you had a "very Brady" 70's version like we do!
As for knowing each other really well.... The majority of our little group was thrown together last year. The year before, at the first rally, there were far fewer of us.
To give you a little LPPI history:
March 2005 - While I was reading through the posts for the upcoming rally in Illinois I realized that it was WAY too far to go for most of us here in the Metro-Detroit area so I hatched a plan and set up a poll to see how many would be interested in a Metro-Detroit rally. I figured I would get 5-7 people interested and we would go from there. Well, the first rally had 16 units! Mostly the lovely beige version (Argosy) that I like to call, "Limited Production Airstreams".
After that rally, and after I made a really big fool of myself that weekend, everyone changed their avatar picture to my picture! It even spawned a thread of its own, http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...ars-18117.html
Then last year we had 26 units and it just keeps getting bigger and more fun! We all have a really good time too. I would love to see all of these guys more often too!
Come on and join us this year. Trust me, you will never be the same!
