davidz---we're headed to Hiawassee too. There's a slim chance we might catch this gathering on the way depending on final decision of date and place. See ya in Ga----pieman

I am in for the Energy Lake gathering on the weekend of the 29-31 unless something unforseen happens even if the trailer is only a partial project which I am sure it will be. Never enough time to work on it.

I do hope the October 13-15 date at the Canal Campground works out for those that cannot make the September group. I am otherwise committed that weekend, but it is so close to the house I will most likely drive over on Thursday night the 12th to meet with any of the early arrivals as well.

I am thrilled folks are wanting to meet here in our part of the country.

Lbl

Any body have Direct or Dish hookup for their AS I got a buddie with a AS who wants to attend but hates to miss the Memphis State/Tennessee game? Or do you have knowledge of any sports bars in the wilds of LBL(LOL)? Working on two or three from the Memphis area.

You'll enjoy Hiawassee. Rather than do a bunch of hiking, I sat back and watched some of the adults and kids canoe. I thinking kayak next April to take along on these outings. It gave me a chance to talk with some members I had not met before and even discuss a towing problem one of them was having.

Well I am in. They signed me up for A-7.

If you are planning to go you may well need to reserve NOW. They have what they call the "LBL 200" all during the month of September. This is when they open 200 miles of normal hiking trails to off road motorcycles. Most of the camp sites fill up early and stay full most of the month. The camp host told me they already have more than 5 times the number of reservations for September than they did for August.

You can also phone your reservation at 1-877-444-6777

well i couldn't find anything on the motorcycle event, on the lbl calendar or park calendar. any more info on this? looks like a great place for hiking and mtn biking but if the trails are all open to atv/motorbikes duing this time....that isn't so appealing. i will call them tomorrow.

it also looks like at least 1/2 of the site are firstcomefirstserve....but if this is a big event those could be taken...

cheers

Well, I guess I should have checked my facts before posting.

All I know is since yesterday was such a beautiful day I decided to ride down to the campground and look around. It is only about 45 minutes away from my house, but I have never camped there. The Camp Host told me about the "LBL 200". I have never heard of it before. (I do my cycling on the road with both wheels in contact at all times.) The Camp Host told me the information I posted last night. Keep in mind a camp host is not an actual employee and could have had his information mixed up or I could have missunderstood what he was telling me.
I do know is that he showed me his reservation book and September had considerable more names in it than August did, especially the beginning of the month. We are going the end of the month so it may not be any big deal.

Don't let this stop anyone from coming. LBL has 170,000 acres there. Lots of room for everyone.

I hadn't ever camped there either untill last month, I thought it was really nice. Did the host tell you that they used to own an AS? I'm really looking forward to the weekend.

Anyway, it looks like there are four reservable sites left in A loop as of this morning. For anyone still planing to attend I would say A9 is the best choice (on the water and next to Cpt Jones and myself).

On a second note, do we want to have a shared meal on Sat? or any thing of that nature?
