THe hardest part of towing the trailer home was going slow. I have such a lead foot, 75 is slow for me. I was up to 90mph at one point, but with a single axle, I figured I had better slow down.

Glad to hear there will be a couple people to chat with Thursday, and help out if needed.

Ron

Please heed your own instincts, IMveryHO: 75-90 mph while towing any trailer is just asking for litigation...to put it politically correct.

Have no fear, I don't want to hurt my baby. I'll take it slow.

Ron, FYI Illinois has a 55 mph speed limit for trailers. While it is exceeded by many, there is a difference in truck speeds in this state an Missouri where 80 seems to be the norm on I-44.

Distance

For those of you not familiar with the rally location, here are some approximate distances from some of the larger midwest cities in several states.

Chicago IL.153 miles

St. Louis MO.174 miles

Indianapolis In. 158 miles

Louisville KY 269 miles

Dayton Oh. 278 miles

Madison Wi 218 miles

Des Moines Ia. 322 miles

Detroit Mi. 411 miles

Memphis Tn. 430 miles

As a reminder this is a public campground which accepts reservations from all. We do not have any guaranteed sites although if you write Airstream Rally on your reservation form, the park folks will attempt to assign us sites next to each other.

Our furthest distance traveled last year was Sue and Ike (eikel1we).

411 miles from Saganaw Mi.

Hope to see you there!

Regards,

Jack

Must be a southern Illinois thing. It's especially noticeable on I57 on the south of I64. I wonder if that's a high enforcement area?

June 2004 Midwest Rally is Set!

Greetings Jack!

The area that you have indicated is an area of high-intensity enforcement as a general rule. My hometown (Chicago is actually my hometown, but I claim my ancestral home as hometown) is near milepost 36 on Interstate 57 (Lick Creek Road Exit), and it is very uncommon to travel in either direction and not see at least two patrol cars when going South - - or several when traveling North to Interstate 64. There is also a very different philosophy among natives of the area regarding "speeding along" - - the slower pace takes a great deal of adaptation according to my friends from Wisconsin and the Chicago area. I love the relaxed pace and look forward to getting South of Interstate 70 each trip home. Some of my friends refer to Interstate 70 as the unofficial "Mason-Dixon Line" of Illinois.

I am one of those who enjoys the relaxed pace of 55 MPH when towing - - my cruise control is never set higher than 55 MPH whenever I tow even where the speed limit is higher.

Once again, I should learn from the pro's... Keep it slow, and let the hurried pace of the rest of the world pass us by, as we are airstream owners, and know how to relax and enjoy life.

friends coming along

we have friends from Southern IL meeting us there...they have a SOB...and I've been trying to convert them over to the "shiny" side. This might be just the ticket.

Jack, Has anyone from Bill Thomas shown interest in attending? Do you know when their Dealer sponsored Rally is this year and where?

Bill is doing a rally at his dealership in April. We did this last year and it was fun. What's nice is his folks take care of any small repairs we need while we are there. Great to start out the season with.

His big rally is held every other year and is in rotation with the Missouri state rally. 2004 is earmarked for the state rally so you won't see anything else till 2005. Here is the local unit web page if you are interested in the dates of either of the rallies.

Dog gone grumble #(@*$( computer *#*#*(@ confusing GROWL #*(@(# eggplant *$*@&@ stupid &$@# technology......(continue this for an hour)

Me and my computers.......we just don't see eye to eye. Can't get the goofy registration to load on either my Mac or PC. Goes to show you what a goofball I am. I had this problem last year. Bring back the days of the ATARI! Hmmmm......Atari..... (thinking out loud - wheels a spinnin') I might have to go dig mine out of the attic to combat my computer aggravation. ******Bright Idea!******** I'm bringing my Atari and black and white portable television to the Rally for an Atari tournement!

That is if I can get the registration to load..........

Had to call the nice folks at Morraine View and ask them to Mail me a registration form the old fashioned way. It will be in the mail as soon as we get it. In the meantime I will be working out, trying to get back into prime pillow fight shape for the rally! I'm soft, I must admit. But I have a reputation to maintain. (Humming "Eye of the Tiger" while typing and eating potato chips for breakfast).

All of this babble has a point, We're definitely in! And we will possibly be in for Thursday night. Looking forward to it!
Tracy

Hi Tracy!

That form is an Adobe file and you need to load down the Adobe Reader software which integrates with your Internet browser software. Here is a link to the software, its free.
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Now if you have done all that and you still have problems then I volunteer Silvertwinke, MAC extrordinaire, to resolve all your issues. He just loves doing this.
