Edie, you still up for driving with me? You & the pups & I need to start making plans. I have lots of questions, but the first call will be to my bodyshop to see about the hitch.

My tittering (resisting every urge to do a Beavis and Butthead type of "he he...she said....") is hardly predicatable and my lasciviousness is far from ersatz........at least I don't think....... Perhaps I should call in a translator before I decide how to describe my lasciviousness? Especially if the rally is going to elevate beyond it........ first I must to figure out what language thit is....

Summer I got a good laugh from your losing dignity story. When I said I lost my dinity when I had kids, i wasn't kidding. I'm gonna make a long story short. My son was born four years ago. The community hallway of the maternity floor was crowded with pregnant women, new moms and all of the guests and family for each one. Seems the lunar solstice had caused many many women to go into labor (this of course is just my theory but the fact is there were a lot of babies born that very day). So imagine, if you will, one very large pregnant woman, on her hands and knees on a gurnee being pushed by running doctors and nurses - hospital gown wrapped around her wrists - naked.

Since then I've had another son and plenty more stories to add to that one....so from one who lacks dignity to another, I might take you up on the chess game if I can get my kids to cooperate: cooperate meaning leave me alone. Haven't played in years and never was good at it to start with - with that as my sales pitch (way to psych out the opponent, eh?) - I promise to keep my tittering to a minimum - how 'bout it? OH, in case you were wondering, my son was born perfectly healthy thanks to my Doctor who didn't skip a beat when his heart did.

Great story, Tracy! I read it to Laurie who, as a L&D nurse and OB/Gyn NP, has a special appreciation for your predicament... we're STILL laughing!!!

Yeah, dad was bringing up the rear with the video camera, lurching left & then right to keep the whole scene in view.....

Just out of curiosity, in a scary situation like that, how much time do you have to get the baby out?

MY EYES.....MY EYES....!!!!!!!!!!! I just caught up on this thread, and the visual is still with me....

Thank goodness giving birth to Airstreams is a much easier process....

Hey summerkid, how bout we play a game of checkers instead. Checkers with shot glasses...(filled with soda of course, since the no-alcohol rule will surely be stricktly enforced.LOLL) .KING ME!!! I think by the end of the game we'll be getting along famously.... . I'm much better at drinking games. My grandfather tried to teach me chess, but it never clicked.

I think Laurie can give you a more accurate answer to this question, but I can tell you what happened in my case: No one removed my IV or epideral - they were pulled out as I was rolled out of the room. My husband was left alone without explanation. The nurse jogged alongside with papers she begged me to sign without question. I was told they had the best neonatal specialist in the country on staff. The last thing I remember was the doctor screaming, "Where's the anesthesiologist? We don't have time for this!" I had a general anesthetic. My husband said the whole thing took 10 minutes.....which became even more amazing after being awake for my second C-section that took almost an hour.

Still can't tell that story without getting all teary eyed.

On a lighter note, what do you suppose that paperwork I signed was about? Hmmm.......There are a few mysterious scars on my body.......Perhaps an organ count is in order?

Good heavens, it brings tears to MY eyes. Thanks for answering; I realize in retrospect that it was kind of a personal question. But I wondered how they juggled the 2 beings, the one who needs to go under & the one who needs to get out. You probably didn't have time to get really scared but... yikes.

I'm a fainter. Probably was never good Mom material!

Tracy... a quick thought... perhaps an NCIC wanted persons check is in order for you... you could be an Army deserter, having signed the enlistment paperwork and never reported for active duty!

AHA! YOU, Tracy Lawrence, are undoubtedly that mysterious woman of urban legend who awoke in the bathtub of ice missing both of her kidneys! Didn't you read the note scrawled on the mirror in lipstick that you were to seek medical attention?

Roger

p.s. that'll teach YOU to poke MY effigy doll with needles!

Campfire talk

Roger, the Army already tracked me down. I was pardoned, though. Seems they have a two kidney requirement and I just didn't fit the bill.....however did you hear about my kidneys and the note on the mirror and the ice bath? Oh,my, gosh........Next you're going to tell me that you heard about the family next to us in the hospital that named their twin boys Orangello and Lemonjello?

Summer, I was happy to answer. I'm a fainter too - I survived, though I was sure I wouldn't. And Ron, I was aware that it was rather inapporopriate and off topic for an Airstream forum. But I think of this as an online campfire. And I jump at any chance to tell my birthin' stories despite how frightening - they were the most important days of my life. I guess I could embelish a bit, make it all happen IN our Argosy to make it work. I giggle at the thought of anyone doing research on "Emergency C-sections" and stumbling upon this thread. Guess you can find anything here. I've been doing some research online at health related websites for natural solutions to my baby's excema.......perhaps I should do a search here on the Airstream forum? hmmm....never thought of that.

Tracy, since I have been trying so hard to suck up to you, and avoid the dreaded knitting needle in the eye....I LOVE YOUR STORIES!!!!

I agree about the campfire concept. I think people are tired of me blirting out whatever is on my mind here, but there is always someone who is interested....OK, almost always....LOL

Do you have the whole birthing process on video??? We could project it on the airstreams at the rally, and really share in your experience.....LOL
