Interest in a Western Region Women's Rally

Hey all you West Coast Women (and anyone remotely close enough to join in)...

Any ideas for possible dates and places for a western rally? There is the NorCal Winter Rally already scheduled in CA for January 12-15 so sometime after that would be best.

Thoughts???

We Can Tow It!

Can't forget the Four Corners Rally! That's going to be a good one.

I think what we are talking about (for the western women's rally) is a small-er get together to meet and greet and practice our trailering skills. Not trying to exclude anybody...just trying to get more of us out there!

time to cut the umbilical cord!

Hi - I'm very interested in a WC Women's Rally. I'm very new at this and have never towed our trailer by myself before. I'll be scared, but there's a first time for everything, right?

Hey Trailer Chicas,

How about a Cali-for-neeya rally? That will help narrow it down a little bit...
I'm a big fan of Pescadero / Half Moon Bay . I'm open to any favorite spots too, of course.

Meredith, you can do it!

Debra and I have been talking about Santa Barbara as a possibility. That would be an easy first trip for you Meredith. It might be a little far for the Northern folks...are you up for a little drive Kristiana?

There are the beach campgrounds (Refugio and El Capitan) but they take reservations so a little planning might be in order. There is also Lake Cachuma which is a county campground and they don't take reservations so you can just show up. I think that was a nice part about the Lake San Antonio Rally...everyone came when they wanted and paid for their own site so no one had to put out $$$$.

another Santa Barbara spot

We just stayed at a brand new RV park called Oceanmesa. It is off the same exit as El Cap state park. It was very well run, clean, etc. Views were awesome from the ocean premium sites. It is a little barren as all the trees are just saplings. They have WiFI, a heated pool and jacuzzi. The only downside for us was the 15 miles of trails do not allow dogs but you can go to the state park to walk. The owner has a 2000 Airstream with slideouts and 2 corgis www.oceanmesa.com

Thanks, str8strm. That looks like a good possibility. I didn't know it was there. Is it big enough for a small rally without reservations?

I would think so since they are so new, the ocean premium spots are definetly the best, They are back in up to 35 feet. They took a credit card and no charge until you arrive, with 48 hour cancellation policy.

Ocean Mesa

I have a friend that works at Ocean Mesa in reservations, maybe she could help coordinate our group if we decide to go there. Heard some nice feedback on the place from friends who have stayed already. Easy pull throughs and beautiful views. They have terrific live entertainment on their grassy lawn on Saturday nights during the Summer months.

Some other places to consider -

Jalama (only group areas can be reserved ahead of time) http://www.sbparks.com/docs/jalama.html

Ventura Beach RV http://venturabeachrv.getwebnet.com/ is just 25 minutes South of SB just of the 101,

Carpinteria State Beach (http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=599) with group accommocations

Lopez Lake is in Arroyo Grande (http://www.slocountyparks.com/activities/lopez.htm)

I've never camped at any of these places, so I'm can't vouch for them.

Lake Cachuma

Just back from the NorCal Rally and I'm all fired up to try this towing thing by myself!

Lake Cachuma is a great option for this rally, lots of full hookup sites and plenty to see and do. Cachuma Lake Recreation Area, Santa Barbara County Parks, Santa Barbara, California

Thumbs up You can do it Meredith!

Meredith,

First off, I miss you! It was great to meet you and your family, I wish
we got to spend more time together, but with my runaway doggie showing
up everywhere...she a smart one.

Lake Cachuma looks fantastic, count me in!

I've got my Rosie outfit (complete with kerchief) all picked out.

Who else in in?...

Rosie rocks!

Hi Kristiana -

Yes, it was great to meet you and Osa too. You and your trailer towing expertise are my inspiration! I am sorry that we didn't get more time to hang out. Unfortunately, relaxation is not something that I get to do much when camping with the kids - there are always frozen puddles to ice skate on, a game of crazy eights to play, or a sand pile to jump off of somewhere.

Thanks for the Rosie scarf, I had to pry it away from Taylor on the way home and it's now tucked in the 'stream for safe-keeping. I plan on wearing it on my first solo trip with the trailer.

If there's enough interest in a women's rally in this area, I will volunteer to do some coordinating with the campground.

Count me in! I'd love to camp with you all. You can do it Meredith...we'll all help each other. Lake Cachuma is an easy drive for me...in fact I drove past the campground on my way home from 29 Palms. I've stayed there and there is plenty of room. Let's talk dates. How about March? (Four Corners in Feb. and NorCal in April). I'll round up Kim and Debra if they are available.

Let's (mini) Rally,
Laurel
(Bam)

P.S. My Jeep is wearing the bandana...

Trailer chicks rule!

Chicas,

March sounds great to me!
We'll have our own West Side Sista's Spring Break!
Let's round up the trailer chicks and make this happen.
Let me know what I can do over here to help organize.

I'm headed to Vegas (trade show) day after tomorrow, so
I'll be off the forums for next week. I'll check in after that though.

I'm really excited for our mini rally!

Cheers.
k.

Let's set a date

Ok, so March sounds good to me too. I am free any weekend in March except the first weekend. That leaves the weekends of March 10 - 11, March 17 - 18, March 24 - 25, or March 31 - April 1. What sounds good to everyone?
