Interest in a Woman's Rally

Since the other thread about women traveling alone got locked I will try again. Try not to be critical of men or talk about your emotions or they might do it to us again.

I think it might be fun to try to come up with an acronym for a forum group. If you have any ideas on that or on activities, let's do some brainstorming (just be mindful of dust clouds.)

WOW is women on wheels for bikers but I am sure we can come up with something for our sisters chapter.

For activities I think any of the quiet sports, flycasting, canoeing, nature journaling, photography, hiking, bike riding, etc., might be candidates.

What do you think?

Let's see if I can be appropriate enough: what are your initial ideas for this? Area? Season? Time span? ~G

appropriate according to which gender?

We have a trip planned for September and October so that takes me out of the loop until November unfortunately. But if I miss the first one I will make it a point to join the next.
We can choose the location and time first but I would also like to find who is out there.

Perhaps this thread can take several approachs to organizing.

I would love to see this happen and be whatever help I can.

I think perhaps we might consider keeping the length short to make it easier to fit into busy schedules. But it may be easier to figure that out when we know where they live and what their availability is. If we end up with people who can extend it then we can fix that.

I Am Woman Watch Me Tow!!! Great one Steph.

From talking to people I found that Jamie, and Michelle expressed interest as well. I think Paula mentioned interest in our closed thread. I better go back if it's still there and see if someone else expressed a desire--oh no-- I better say if someone expressed an appropriate interest. LOL

Carol,

Thanks for starting this thread!! I'll put my creative thinking cap on the name idea, but in the meantime, let me contribute some links to other womens' RV/carvanning/outdoor groups to get the ideas out there.

RVing Women
Sisters on the Fly
BOW (Becoming and Outdoors Woman)
WOW (Women on Wheels)

Anyone have any more to add to the list?

I want to be SASSI!!!!! I adore that. Steering Institution, LOL Kewl!!!!

I wonder how the fall colors will be running. I would love to camp in a rustic type campsite near some body of water, it doesn't have to be on the water, and if it had bluffs all the better. But I will half cross the country to meet you sassi ladies anywhere.

Actually we would be back middle October from the Colorado area (I think) and could possibly even catch you on the way home. Bradley has rented a car to return home when I stay longer. He's definitely a keeper!

Sorry to be AWOL but I am leaving in the morning to join Mrs. TowDaddy for a couple of nights of camping and to see her brand new 34' slideout which she tows and backs like a charm! Girl Power! Yea!I'll catch up on your planning when I get back. Already mentioned to hubby there's a woman's rally I'd like to go to.

I will leave you with an excert from "Roam Sweet Roam," great Airstreaming video btw.

Regardless of the size of a group of women some man will invariably come up and ask, "Are you ladies alone?"

This works for me too. And if the fall doesn't work out for us, I'd be interested in a late winter/early spring get together in a more southern location. Northerly folks could meet up and caravan southward.

Go for it

I didn't close the other thread to stop discussion of a women's rally; it was done because the discussion had drifted away from Airstreams and was going in circles. This thread is in the right place and has a good subject.

I think a women's rally would be a great idea. I think it is great that women travel alone and aren't anchored to some man. My wife and I are definitely not anchored at the hip.

Al long time ago, I was asked whether a woman could fly the fighter I was then assigned to. The man obviously wanted and expected me to say no way. I grinned and told him I could see only one small problem, the relief tube (a tube with a funnel designed for biological use). I haven't noticed any relief tubes in Airstreams, so I guess even that problem is moot.

I'm on the SASSI bandwagon, though I'll probably never get straight what the S's stand for!

Women's Rally

Hey, Carol,

Just to let you know that Vickie is interested as well. When you see her, you can discuss this.

Sounds like a great idea.
