There is a ton to do and see in this area. You don't want to miss it!
FYI, Dogs are allowed at Bodie Ghost town, on a leash, of course. They are not permitted on the guided tours. Also, dogs are not permitted in certain areas of Mono Lake. So be prepared.

Other area attractions include:
Mono Craters
Travertine Hot Springs (you can take a hot bath)
South Tufa
The historic town of Bridgeport

Also, the 1973 Clint Eastwood movie "High Plains Drifter" was filmed at Mono Lake.

I just called and reserved our spot! There's no exact location but she said "near your friends" which is just where I want to be.

Can anyone give advice on the best route to go from the Valley? We're coming from Fresno. I know to avoid 108.
I'm seeing other routes that use 140 and 120 to get to 395 which I could get to if I take 41 thru Yosemite but I've never traveled those roads. Which is the most trailer-friendly way to go?

Cara, we spend quite a few summers at Twin Lakes above Bridgeport and have always towed Hwy 41 through Fresno and Yosemite to Hwy 120 to 395. It's a spectacular drive through the Park and over Tioga pass...a bit of a white knuckler and narrow in spots and lots of curves but tour buses do it all the time. Allow plenty of time and stop to take in the sights...especially around Olmstead Point and Tenaya lake. It's a drive you will never forget. I assume your F250 has an engine brake which will help on the descent down the pass. Wish we could go but will be in Oregon. Here's a couple pics...1 is stopped at Olmstead Point in Yosemite and 2 is looking back at Tioga Pass after the descent. Have fun!

Thank you, Steve! Are there turnouts along the way? Particularly in the curvy areas? No, we don't have an engine brake on the F250 (something John mentions every time it would be handy) "The only thing this truck doesn't have....." he always says.
Sorry you can't make it to this one! If anything changes, you know where we'll be!
Currently, we have 7 Airstreams reserved.
My twin sister is coming with her 5th wheel white box. No worries, you won't get us mixed up. I'm the cool one standing next to an Airstream.

John knows what he needs! lol You can always gear down manually. There are turnouts scattered throughout the drive to let faster traffic by. There are also places you can pull off to check out the views. The earlier in the day you go, the easier it will be to pull over with the long truck and trailer. It can get very busy driving through Yosemite mid day in summer. Also you have to pay the entrance fee to drive through the Park. I think it was $20 last time I went and that's good for a week.
