I bought a set at the AS factory in OH this summer. Wonder if they are the originals made in the USA? Wouldn't it be ironic if they weren't the American made? I meand one American icon not selling the other American icon!

Pink Flamingos

QUOTE FROM AP STORY:

"The birds typically sell at around $10 for boxed sets of two — one standing nearly 3 feet high with its head held proudly erect, the other bending over as if munching on grass. Their legs consist of spindly metal rods that can be planted in the ground. The Featherstone originals have their creator's signature etched into the bird's plastic rear end."

"Other companies' knockoff versions of the Featherstone original remain in production. But the uncertainty surrounding the original has aficionados of kitsch snapping up what they can via the online auction site eBay and elsewhere in case Featherstone versions go out of stock for good."

Good luck finding originals. Overseas producers will copy the signature too.....

The last of a dying breed

I bought mine on Amazon quite a while back. Now I see they are unavailable. Just did a quick search out of curiosity. I found some at Exterior Accents on the web, 2 pair for $34.95. Doesn't say they're out of stock yet. Don't let the eBay sellers know.

Picture Sharing

Howdy all. Nice pictures shared by each. Here are several that I took at the Leaf Thing.

Because we camped at the Fall Leaf Thing, my wife and I talked about what we wanted in the future on the way home. We decided that a larger unit with a rear beadroom would be our long-term goal. Attached is a picture of our "new" 1973 31' International Sovereign that we found on-line Sunday evening and picked up Wed. It has a rear bedroom and center bath, so it will be easier for the 4 of us to camp in (especially with 2 dogs along). I will see if I can post the pic of what it looked like before washing. It truly is a project, with rotted flooring and trashed foam. But, the tongue jack worked even though the lights didn't (bought temp lights and strung them around the back of the trailer to get it home). The A/C blows air (don't know about the compressor). I am hoping to use it 4th of July for the family reunion in Maryland.

Thanks for the great time, and all the support everybody has provided. See you in the spring.

Phil and Sue, it was so nice meeting you and comparing Tradewinds Sunday morning at the rally. Your new Sovereign looks great, even though it may be a quite a project. What was it about this rally . . . you now have another trailer, A-Merry-Can went and got himself another, Clancy Boy is looking . . . . I think some contagious Airstream virus struck!

there's only SO much vintage aluminum out there... and as long as the yard isn't full, we have no excuse! (it has the added benefit of keeping property values in check, and neighbors racked off!)

ha!

well we seem to have a Sovereign contingent here with Kathy and ourselves and now Phil&Sue. Welcome to the club. the rear bedroom is a great thing.
Enjoyed the pickin' and grinnin' except for the smoke from the campfire which killed my throat.

picture is worth 1,000 words????

Like a nut I never got my camera out to take pictures! I have been hoping someone would post one of my trailer among those beautiful trees that I could "borrow". Now Phil and/or Sue have done it for me. Well sort of..... That's mine on top of the hill hiding behind the tree.

A little late...here are my pics from the rally

I know that I'm over a week late, but here are my pictures from the Fall 2006 GA Rally. Joel and I really enjoyed meeting everyone there. It was a great first rally for us and we look forward to many more!

Thanks Desidou, those will do fine. You have some very fine photos there. I had a good time, but would have preferred about 10 degrees warmer.
