Might Just Be Our First Rally

My wife and I have been enjoying our Airstream for a couple years now but we've not had a chance to attend a rally. We joined WBCCI but the dates just have not worked out for us.

Looks like the North Georgia dates may be the ticket - not sure yet as we are planning college football outings with some friends in Florida. Anyway, if we attend, this will be our first rally so go easy on us. It sounds like great fun! We're flexible and enjoy doing almost anything. We just returned from the World's Longest Yard Sale and had a blast - didn't buy much but it was great people watching and sightseeing.

Hope to see you in Hiawassee.

Great, I've been looking at the Wilderness Systems Tarpon 140 Angler for fun and fishing. Maybe I can pick your brains on kayaks.

I love spicey. Renetta set me on fire the last rally with her cajun sausage. Yummy.

This may be our biggest rally yet! We are up to 15 with another 2 maybe's. Since the rally thread blimped about a week ago, some names have been lost. So everyone go back and sign up!

Can't wait. Sounds like we are going to have some yummy food, music and water activities and lots of fun!

About a week ago something happened with the Rally page and we lost the list of folks that had already signed up. Some have gone back and signed up again, but some have not. So, please check the list to be sure that your name is there. This rally is growing in popularity and, I think, it is impressive to see the number of folks that plan to attend.

Our first rally...

Alan & gang -

We're new to the rally thing. We just got our 19' Bambi last year. I hope it's okay if we join you (myself & my husband). We've never been to a rally before and since this one is so close to home, we can't resist checking out what a rally is like.

We're planning on bringing our kayaks too - it looks like we'll have some paddling buddies

I'll call and reserve a site, then post again to let you know what # we have.

AlanSD - we're also in Roswell off of Hwy 92 - right by the Kroger shopping center & the QuickTrip just before Sandy Plains. Sounds like we're almost neighbors!

OK... We're In!

Danielle and I booked site # 41 at GMF. We are looking forward to the weekend. Don't have a canoe, kayak or any other water craft and we don't play music. But we enjoy spending time with other people and we LOVE our Airstream. We'll be there on Friday and plan to go home on Sunday - I gather that's the drill for this event. Watching a movie, weather permitting, sounds like fun and the food sounds great - we'll do whatever we can to contribute. See Ya then.

Me too!

I've not met any of ya'll, but I've exchanged emails with some of you and YES! I weaseled out of another obligation and freed up the rally weekend. I've reserved site #46 and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you then!

Off Topic... Campground Suggestions

I'm looking for a campground in north GA for Labor Day weekend. I've checked all the state parks and I've checked several COE parks and they are full for that weekend. So I'm looking for private campgounds - must be north of Atlanta. Any suggestions?

We're pretty flexible - water and 30A electric would be good, full hookup is always nice. Shady if possible. Does not have to be on water. Prefer a reasonble space between RV's. I want to stay in GA if possible but would consider going over the state line anywhere from AL on the west to SC on the east including TN and NC. We store our Airstream in Cumming so I prefer to go east, north or west from there - not south.

I know it's late to be considering Labor Day, and that weekend will be crowded, but I just don't think we can wait from now till Oct 20 for our next camping trip.

Scanning the Campgrounds post on this forum gave me some ideas but I just wanted to throw the topic out to this group.

Thanks

Yes, all the reservable sites are taken. However, the helpful assistant from McKinney gave me some good tips on how to lay claim to the un-reservable sites.

The assistant said to call a few days prior to Labor Day weekend, determine how many un-reservable sites are open, go to the campground in person, pay for the site and stake your claim. This may result in paying for a few unused nights at the campground but it gets you a spot. However, I prefer to plan a little more in advance so I'm looking for additional campground suggestions.

Thanks

Try DeSoto State Park in Mentone, AL. That's a nice campground.

I know you want to stay north of Atlanta, but FDR State Park in Warm Springs south of Atlanta is really nice and may have some sites left. We will be there from Thursday 'til Monday of Labor Day Week End. Traffic would be a bore getting through Atlanta, but it might not take any longer to get there than some of the places in N. AL. or N.C.
