Just got word that my daughter won a contest at school and gets her prize (a limo ride with the principle) on Friday afternoon. While I'm really really happy for her (she is five and beaming from ear to ear) this means we can't make it down to the rally given the distance we would need to cover from Louisville.

We had planned to pull the kids out and head down on Thursday night arriving at the rally on Friday morning, but since I just can't deny my little girl's prize and nine hours down would put us in around 11pm - 12am and we would need to turn out by noon on Sunday to make it back for another committment on Monday morning it's just not going to happen this time.

So to all, please accept our regrets and have fun.

We will certainly miss you and the family Steve. But at the age of 5, well, at the age of @#, a limo ride is still nice. Congrats to her and maybe we'll see you in the spring!

Sorry Swebster and the crew will miss it. But the limo thing is a big deal for sure.
I just found out that Blake Shelton is in concert at the GA Mtn Fair concert Hall Saturday night. Not that I am going, mind you, but some more background sounds will be pretty cool.
We have the prizes for Fave Airstream and Longest Distance travelled to be given Saturday night at dinner. Thanks to the Forum and Airstream Life and my co-pilot Shannon these will be much appreciated.

how's the saturday nite dinner going to work? should i rent a tux? wasn't sure if it was an organized time or whatever.

we may meander over before the film. i think david's going to bring "RV", an outdoor projector and screen (nothing like a trailer-in movie). bring your own chairs and popcorn!

ha!

Getting ready

We are almost done here at the house. It is raining here also and it is very heavy at that.We will be leaving here at around 3:00 a.m. tomorrow.Thought we were going to leave earlier but decided otherwise. We will be passing thru atlanta going north on 285.I expect it to be very busy once we hit it but I plan to just take my time. Some of them people are nuts on that highway and dont care about anything except themselves and there cellphones.
We will be there Fri afternoon sometime.See you all there.

Lucille is back together

OK, what a day. Had the old axle pulled and waiting on the new axle. Parts kit from INLAND RV arrived at 1030. Yellow Transport called and showed at 1115. Driver even gave me a hand getting the axle under the AS. 2.5 hours later (ALONE AND SCARED) under the trailer, I got the axle in the mount notches and jacked into position. 2 hours of drilling (dull 1/2 bit - borrowed a good one from a neighbor) and the bolts are in. Tires on - very close to the front AL trim (1/4 inch), I will grind the space to 1/2 inch tomarrow with the die grinder. No real issue - it's under the trailer and excess panel material. The axle will prevent the wheel from going forward anyway as it's a torsion axle - it rotates up and back.

This means I'm on - wife is happy (a little tired of all the work - wants to go now). I'm more confident in the ride, no major breakdown on the road with a brke axle. This new one is impressive.

SEE YOU ALL THERE ON THURSDAY (OR FRIDAY). Pack tomarrow and do an oil change in Flo.

$800 for the axle
$94 for the shipping
$60 for the new rims (3)
$40 for the tire transfer
ON VACATION - PRICELESS

WOW!!! The excitement is building!!! We are packing too. We are trying to be careful not to pack too much. This is our first trip and want to have a few creature comforts. Coffee and Wines have been selected. The television is staying home. Canoe and fishing gear is packed. We are planning to stop in Helen to visit family after dropping off the AS on Thursday so we probably won't see everyone 'till Friday. Please everyone...Drive careful.

Thumbs up Ready, Set, GO!!!

Danielle and I are nearly ready to go. We have things at the house pre-packed and ready to transfer to the trailer on Thursday. We'll be leaving work a little early on Thursday afternoon and should arrive at the campground after by 8pm Thursday. After dark... but that's life... anything for a vacation at this point - even if it's just a long weekend. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Stew, chili, low country boil - it all sounds good to us.

See Ya There, Lucius

Way to go, Clancy Boy!

Congratulations on the axel installation. I know that puts your mind at ease. May you get lots of well-deserved sleep tonight.

I've been spending time in the kitchen trying to get as much as possible pre-mixed, roasted, chopped, baked, sautee'd, etc. I'll have some goodies to bring but I don't want to spend my whole weekend in the galley. Hoping to leave Friday by noon, it depends on how busy it is at the hospital and if I'm on call. I'm also taking Hwy 64 along the Ocoee to North Carolina and down.

Swebster, I'm sorry you won't be able to make it, but you have a darn good reason. Karma is on the way for making your daughter's limo dreams come true.

Alan, since SWebster had to cancel out, I called the campground and had my site changed from #4 to where he was, in #1. It's about a 10' longer site.
Besides, I figured you wanted to mess with that map and the roster some more.
Two days - can't wait!!!
