Clancy Boy, remind me not to sit on your left. I don't like to be in charge! Have a good trip home and see you next week!

Devonman, I'll be in Panama City this weekend. We'll be arriving on Thursday evening and returning on Monday. Where can I purchase seafood to bring home?????

Alan, you are the MAN!!!!

Yes, recess is in order . . .

Clancy Boy, since my site is next to yours and depending on how you look at it, I could be on your left. HOWEVER, I graciously recuse myself from any voting, organizational, administrative, or political activities on the grounds of intolerance of said activities while relaxing with my Airstream!

Depending on when I get off work, I'm hoping to get there by Friday afternoon and am looking forward to meeting everyone. What I thought would be a relatively small group for this first time rallier has turned out to be quite a showing. So I'm warning ya'll ahead of time. If you think I look all newbie stupid trying to level my trailer and put up my vintage-style awning, just keep your laughter to yourselves. Thanks, I know you're just "laughing with me." Be safe, everyone.

Kathy- what time do you want everyone to start setting up for the dinner on Saturday? With this many people we will need to get crankin' to get it all laid out. Breakfast will be somewhere Sat morn for those who want to share in the coffees, and whatever.

I think I should wear a "Newbie Hat" as this is our first trip also. Site 53 should have the espresso machine fired up and ready early. Be bold and come by. Missy will probably let us know that you are there.

A Scary--Exciting Time--New Beginning for me

Hi group,
I just learned today that my job will be ending on Friday October 20th. It was perfect timing, since I already had vacation time off for the the rally. I think I will take the plunge and go into full time trailer restoration. I have a few to start on already........

Anyone for Games?

I have a game called HOLE-Y Board. I can bring the boards and if someone wants to copy my plans and build their own it can be lots of fun. So anyone want to have a tournament? Of course well play just for fun and recognition.

sorry to hear about the job, been there myself more than once...when one door closes ,well you know the expression. As for the game, we are up for anything new. We brought a new game last time enjoyed it, "Tri-bond" I think its called.
Early morning espresso brew sounds mighty good.
My little dog likes his walk about 7:30 so we should be up and about before 8 if thats ok.

So sorry to hear about the job...it can be a bummer, or it can be a relief. Glad you are in good spirits about it. Hope things go well in the new venture.

Tom

Holy Cow - over 30 ppl attending!

That's huge. I guess that will teach me to check the forums more often!

I wanted to chime in on the question about fabric stores in the area. There are lots of "home dec" stores in the Atlanta area if you're looking for fabric to replace your curtains. If you PM me, I can send you some links and directions. Off the top of my head, I think of Miltex Fabrics (on Holcomb Bridge Rd, off of GA 400, exit 7), Boca Bargoon's (many locations) and Outrageous Bargins (in Marietta off I-75)

I too am a fabric nut and I even have a travel sized sewing machine that I bring along with us in the camper so I can sew - many times this is the only time I have to sew since there's usually too much going on at home to make time.

I am open to bringing my machine and/or getting together with the other fabric-aholics to chat about our addictions.

It sounds like we will have a lot in common with many of you attending. We bring our small dog (10 lb Yorkie) camping, we are both paddlers (we own kayaks) and we appreciate a good cup of freshly ground coffee.

Alan - if you decide that you'd like to have name tags made for this event since there are so many of us, I will volunteer to make them. I am thinking of the pin on or clip on type (the stick on ones would lose the "stickiness") and including their trailer year and model, "legal names" and Airstream forum names on there. What do you think?

I have done that before, they were not used by too many people. I am giving everyone a site list so they will know who is where anyway. Trying to keep it casual I guess....

Love that vintage TV, Nazz! You would still probably outrun me going back up Monteagle.

Hey Nazz300, you know that is one of the original 5th wheel trailers. So named because the goose neck hitched into a ball socket centered into an actual wheel that cushioned the hitch mounted in the rear of the car.

They were so expensive they were only owned by the very rich and were much like pullman rail cars inside. The TV's were driven by the chauffer and had a phone that connected the tow vehcile to the trailer so the family rode in the trailer and could communicate with the chauffer. They also usually had their butler and maid tending to them in the trailer as they toured the country. I don't think they were ever intended for overnight "camping". The only one I have seen wasn't set up for camping, but it did have a bath room and small kitchen.
