Glad things turned out safely with the hand and spring bars.

I have the Equal-z-er brand hitch and the spring bars ride on brackets mounted to the A-frame. We camped at Fall Creek Falls in Spencer, TN this week end (beautiful state park, BTW) and the site we had had a steep slope down from the street to the level camp site so my truck was at a slope to the trailer like yours is in the photo. Fortunately I have an electric jack motor because I had to raise the tongue to it's highest point (motor stopped at top) to get the spring bars off. Like you, though, not all of the tension was off of the curb side bar. After removing the second bar (curb side) I happend to look under the rear of the truck which had some fire wood on the curb side, thus unevenly loaded, and the street side rear tire had about 4" clearance under it! The tongue jack had completely lifted the rear of the truck off of the asphalt! Unfortunately I couldn't get to the digital camera to take a photo because it was in the console of the truck and I was afraid to get in the truck with the rear half suspended in mid air.

Because of the steepness of the drive way to the site, I wound up having to remove the jack foot so I could lower the tongue enough to get the trailer level front to back. However, the side to side was perfectly level.
side was perfectly level.

I have two countdowns going....

After 10 days without internet access we finally got our satellite back from the fleet for access. I have two countdowns going - one to come home and one to get up to the rally. I am so looking forward to being somewhere other than out here and this rally will be a great get away.

Hey ALANSD, I'm just now am reading your post, those bars still have alot of spring in them?

See Ya'll there.
Mike

We can participate in a wine tasting. We just had Wine Over Water here in Chattanooga and found some new Argentina wines that were good.

I'll leave the coffee tasting (and early morning time) to others. Believe me, it's not pretty!

This will be our first rally, airstream - forum - or otherwise, I just wanted to be prepared. I believe there is some kind of ritual or hazing(?) for first timers where everyone brings something called a "cyclo" and they each use it on one foot of my AS. I feel bad that there are 33 people with reservations and our motorhome is only 31 feet long. I will search for another 2 feet of aluminum something so somebody doesn't get left out .

Wine with local color

My wife and I would love a wine tasting! We will be bringing a wine grown and bottled right here in Rabun County (NE GA). If we have time we will swing by the other winery in the county and get a bottle of their white.

Oldest son is playing in a wooden bat league in Asheville and I will see if we can "sneak" away for a growler of my favorite beer, this month at least, for the less refined pallets in the group.

16 days and counting

Re- wine tasting--- this will be more like a wine drinking , with no little cups and spitting out of the excess. Same for the coffee thingie...drink some, talk about it, drink some more.
As for the hazing...or removal of same...being that this is at least the 8th one of these ( albeit the largest so far) that I have organized, any Cyclo usage has to be approved by me, and must be attempted on our Sovereign first. This rule applies only to those experienced in the use of this device.Once my Sovereign reaches the level of polish it truly deserves, then the removal of hazing can continue on to another worthy coach.
Managment declines any liability (or inability) due to excess polishing.
How's that for airstreamforumsrallylegalese?
I like the idea from Rob ( or Tim or Colin) at the VAP...they go to Rally's and have a polishing class, where folks practice on Rob's ( or ..) trailer a panel or square foot at a time. One way to get it all done!

Enough Time in the Weekend

With the meals, the open house, to see other's trailers, yard sale swap meets, new friends to meet, ideas to exchange, pictures to take, notes to make, will we be able to take it all in? Not to mention, food, music, campfire time, kayaks, canoes, and mountains color-----I can hardly wait.
