camping
We have decided to try and go.I am checking my work schedule and hoping I can do this.It is really hard to leave right now but I am going to find out tomorrow if it is possible.Crossing my fingers.
We have never been to a rally of any sort and I am now hoping that this one can be our first.
If it happens I am hoping there is still room left to get a spot in there. It seems there is a famous singer coming there the 21 so it makes me wonder.I will know tomorrow though.

A famous singer? Cool maybe we can jam some Saturday Night. PizzaChop (Ron) will hopefully stay long enough to play some with us.
As for me...I am not what I would consider famous but have a look at this;

for the heck of it.

Cool
We got really lucky in getting this spot.It was one of the last ones available. There were a few more but were out of the way a bit.
Thought I would post this pic though.I wanted to see where everyone was at so I did the same thing that was done earlier on the map and marked the area of the sites some are staying on.Sorry the pic turned out smaller than I had expected.

That's quite a big crowd showing up. I have the Caravel up on blocks and the old axle off. Shipping company called and said the new one will be here on TUESDAY, keep your fingers crossed. I have the tires transfered to the new rims, new shocks sitting in boxes, the whole ball of wax rests with the on-time delivery on Tuesday. No going back now.
My wife has read all the comments in this thread and is ready to go.
SEE YOU THERE......

Good luck Micahel-- we are pulling for you.....also the weather forecast looks terrific. The local tv says the leaf colors are starting to peak up there, so it should be very colorful around the lake.

Leaving
Come to find out we will be leaving a bit earlier than expected. We are hitting the road on Wed early in the morning to go to see here father and stay there a couple of days then to the campgrounds. The cool part is that it will only take about 2 hours to get there from her dads house and is on the same highway to get there.
That sounds great about the colors peaking.I can not wait to see it and everyone there.

Just got back from a day trip to Ellijay, 40 miles or so south of the campground. Leaves are looking good, apples are in plentiful supply and the air had that crisp coolness with bright blue skies. If its anything like that next week it be awesome.

I'm sitting here wondering if I'm going to make this rally at all.
Right now I have a camper up on jack stands in my drive - the old axle off, tires switched to the new rims (no going back without cost), old shocks that look like they have seen better days - new ones in the box. I have to get the parts kit from Inland RV (Oh yeh, they forgot to ship them 2 weeks ago and are now shipping them overnight express "should be there on Monday"). Yellow Transport will (I HOPE) show up on Tuesday with the axle, I have taken the day off to be here and give directions, hopefully they are not like the cable company. Everything is out of my hands and in someone elses hands. I have no problem getting the thing in - I JUST NEED THE AXLE. Forcast shows rain on Tuesday, I've worked in rain before, no big deal - I was paid for it which always helps.
Just needed to vent. I'll be there - even if I have to sleep on the ground. OK - I'm done.............................................. ....

Clancy boy if you make it to the camp ground we will feed and house you if things just don't work out. Keep a positive outlook!! We are praying for everything to work smoothly.
Just a reminder everyone, to bring a jacket after the sun goes down things cool off pretty quickly we have already had light frost a couple of times this last week.
Is it time yet?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Yeah, you'll make it. Shocks don't matter. Axles do, but it will all come together. You will be drinking your favorite beverage standing in a sea of aluminum, with a sky full of stars, and a campfire reflected in the nearby Airstreams.
Soound gooood doesn't it?

Wishing you the best, Clancy Boy, and if the Caravel isn't ready, we'll all work something out for you and your family. Silverhobby was kind to offer Brunswick stew for everyone on Friday. Alan mentioned something about not being a red meat eater, so for anyone wanting an alternative (or a taste of both for that mater), I'll be bringing a vegetarian 3 bean chili with all the fixin's. Hopefully, I'll have a couple of batches of cornbread ready to go too. Five days and counting . . . . can't wait, but then I have SO much to do before we leave!

Good luck Clancy boy I am cheering and praying for you! Especially because I opted not to do the axels yet, yes I need to do ours but I figured one more trip is not going to hurt anything more than it already has. I can not wait to see the new axles! We will be doing ours this winter. Good luck and I'll be thinking bout you tomorrow!

it'll be worth the effort, though! a new axle has been my best upgrade yet, i think... with new wheels and tires. it feels like a new trailer on the road. swapping out my axle was a 2 person saturday, though. i think it takes longer to swap out a single axle trailer than a double, due to the precarious supporting involved. i hope it all goes smooth for ya!
