Well, this wasn't what I had in mind, but you'll catch a glimpse of Lake Chatuge...

What was the campsite number for that location in the photo? Nice view.

You guys have a good September and remember I will be checking in from sea near Japan. Not quite the same bandwidth but I'll be posting from afloat next week.

My wife and I cannot go a day without talking about the camp out. In 3 weeks, while I'm away, the axle will be delivered. I'll feel alot safer on the road with new rolling stock under my Caravel.

The campsite (picture) was around A43. The "A" section does not allow fires, but when I was there and it was about 100' that didn't seem to be a big deal. You would almost have to go out of your way to find a bad site - as long as it faces the water. At the site I was at, I just dragged my kayak down to the water and paddled away - totally cool.

On another note, one other attraction people might want to partake in on either the journey away from our weekend is Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge (8660 Blue Ridge Drive). My wife and I were up there last fall and all I can tell you is this is a real catch. You can sample any of a dozen or more different types of apples they grow (Fuji's are my favorite), buy fresh baked pies, you name it. It is a classic fall destination - if not when we are up there, then go back at an earlier/later time. Bring your appetite and heart medications - I was able to force down one of their fried apple pies with ice cream, but I am sure the rest of you have better judgement.

We go every year to the apple barn on 575 in Ellijay, and usually on to the Apple Festival, a crafts fair and food fest with the usual country stuff like local cloggers, and animals. Its a fun afternoon we have done for years.
The apple barn has many varieties for sale, and the fried killer pies.
The place you mentioned will have to be added to our list.

OK....... The wife and I are in. Reserved spot #45. This will be our 1st Rally so be gentle!

Sorry we don't have a vintage trailer. Vintage wine maybe but no vintage AS. We made the decision that our first AS would be new and come with a warranty.

A message for Craig (davidz71) - Seeing how you're right up the road from me, which route do you take to get to the campground? I'd like to avoid the mountains as much as possible.

Looking forward to seeing lots of aluminum in Oct.

Talking Mountains?? What Mountains??

Nazz, the road around the mountains...well, there ain't one! Last time Craig, Sue and I carravanned from Chattanooga through the Ocoee River Gorge. It wasn't too scary! We put Craig in front and figured if he could get through, we could too! Let me know if ya'll want to do this again! I hope to be able to leave Chatt-Town around 4 on Friday.

I realize we'll be in the mountains but I was wondering if I went south on I-75 to Dalton or Calhoun and then cut over Eastbound, will I avoid some of the mountains?

That road through Ocoee is beautiful scenery. I've been that way going to Helen, GA and it can be hairy coming down the mountain from NC.

If you go thru Calhoun it is pretty flat all the way to the park. The Campgraound is at the edge of the mountains where the elevation is not too high yet. The road from Ellijay and Blue Ridge over to it has minimal hills. If you go thru Dalotn on 76 you weill have the mountains after Chatsworth to deal with into Ellijay. Further down to Calhoun or Resaca thru Industrial City you get to Hwy 5 and take it north. Flat drive. Might even be less time than the more northern routes.
