National Forum Rally location poll
Here is a poll so that we can get an idea of the interest level in a National forum rally by regional location. Here is a definition of what states are contained within each regional location (note, you can vote for more than one location):
Northeast -- New England (CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, VT)
Northeast -- Middle Atlantic (NJ, NY, PA)
South -- South Atlantic (DE, FL, GA, MD, NC, SC, VA, WV)
South -- East South Central (AL, KY, MI, TN)
South -- West South Central (AR, LA, OK, TX)
Midwest -- East North Central (IL, IN, MI, OH, WI)
Midwest -- West North Central (IA, KS, MN, MO, NE, ND, SD)
West -- Mountain (AZ, CO, ID, MT, NE, NM, UT, WY)
West -- Pacific (AK, CA, HI, OR, WA)

Canadian eh!
And what about us poor Canucks - or are we not invited?
If I wasn't at work, I would spend the time to add the appropriate provinces to the list. Maybe someone else can do it, or I will do it later on tonight.

Everyone in the world is invited...the purpose of the poll is to choose a location within the US. Certainly, if you would like to host a forum rally in Canada, please do create a Canadian province poll too!

I don't know how many might feel like me but I would like to get out of my immediate area but not so far as to have to drive many days. If it's centrally located, it's home to some and far for others. I would like to see 3 or 4 rallies in different areas and then all could make it away from home but not have too far cross country to travel.
I think this is great but I couldn't vote and limit myself to a single place. I want to go everywhere, eventually.

It is for that very reason (i.e., can't limit yourself to just one place) that I set the poll up so you can vote on more than one region. So, if you want to go everywhere, simply cast a vote for the last item (i.e., location doesn't matter) or cast a vote for all the regional entries!

Wouldn't the answer depend, at least in part, as to the time of the year?

I get it! Great! I voted for three spots, North East New England, Mid West North Central, and South East South Central. (Anyway I hope that is what I checked.)

pulling the threads thin......
hi all
man are we all chomping at the bit to get camping!
but 2 polls and a discussion thread all at the same time?
i think this poll is useful because it gives us some quanitative insight into regions.......
and whether shooting for a middle america spot (with low populations),
or high population area is more preferred.....
folks will have to travel regardless.....otherwise it's just a regional rally....
in fact any of the most enrolled regional rallies could be labeled 'national' now...
the the season.....during school break...so kids can come.....
or after school starts......when it is easier to find camping for large groups..
if it is to be midwestern.....weather is a consideration.......
now we begin to see how going from easy small gtg to......
larger productions.......is a challenge.....
i like this poll so lets play it out without regard to timing or season...yet.
then, perhaps after we've gathered a little info......
we can discuss this grand ball.......in person at some of this years planned events..........
the midwest rally is stacking up as the place to be.......
and here is what i would like to do.......ultimately......
stage 3 regional......events......each 3-4 days.......and 3-4 days apart.......
then some of us could start at the first, travel to the 2nd, continue to the third.........wow what fun.
3 rallies, 3 caraVans, 9x as much fun........i'm in.......... are you?
i will supply the beer...........
cups
cheers

Oops! I made a mistake on the state abbreviation for Nevada...it should be "NV" instead of "NE" (which is Nebraska).

Last time I checked there was only one Michigan (MI) and it was in the Midwest. However, it would be nice to be able to go south in the winter for vacation or retirement without leaving our "Winter Wonderland" state.
All kidding aside, I suspect that you mean Mississippi (MS) in the South region.
And to the actual point of your question, any National Forum rally would most likely have to be in our home region "Midwest -- East North Central" for us working folks to give it any serious consideration. However, finge areas like western PA in the "Northeast - Middle Atlantic" region or northern KY in the "South - East South Central" region would be close enough for consideration.

I was going to pick Hawaii, but when I try to map a route to Honolulu from my house mapquest comes back with this message:
We are having trouble finding a route for your locations. Please try modifying the information you entered.
The idea of a national rally sounds great, but with many of us working and others with children in school, the chances of doing something like this are slim. I like the idea of a local rally and if planned far enough in advance it could bring in members from other areas.

I hope I didn't offend you. I meant nothing by the comment except to have a little fun. And I really shouldn't be throwing any stones here , because I am the worst typist, sometimes having to edit my posts several times to correct all the errors in them (this one included).
I do appreciate the effort to see if there is interest in a National Forum Rally and if so, the preferred location for it. It'd have to be reasonably close to home for us to attend, but if there is enough interest hold it wherever the majority want it. If this thing takes off, WBCCI (which we also enjoy) could be in trouble.

Hi Codybear -- You can scroll through by month if you click on Rally Calendar above. A contact person is usually responsible for discussing site reservations. Regional rally announcements tend to be discussed at various times in the Forums. For site reservation purposes and your planning convenience, a committment may be necessary some months in advance. For the Forums at least, these are arranged informally at members' own initiative and become what we make of them (eg, inviting dealers, etc).
And yes, California is spoken about IIRC. Keep your eyes open -- I know you'll get a sense for what is closest to you.

Okay, so I go off on tangents once in a while. Here goes another. Why not hold a traveling rally? Some of us are retired and can travel when we want. Others cannot but would still like to meet forum members. A traveling rally would start someplace like Texas in the Winter, move to perhaps Florida, and then perhaps north to the Midwest or Northeast then west and so on staying a few days in each location. In that way folks that can't just go, can schedule to join the rally when it comes to their area.
Ever been to one of those dinner parties that go from house to house for each course of the meal? something like that. Kind of like a Caravan with rallies at each stop.
Must be some full timers that would like to do the circuit.

Somebody else can take a look at west coast locations and great lake locations.

A Great Lakes location sounds good, somewhat central to a larger area, including our neighbors to the north, eh?
