Fort Desoto Forum Rally December 1 and 2, 2006
Hi again. We would like to know if anyone would be interested in a reprise of our September 2005 Forum Rally In Fort DeSoto County park in St. Petersburg the weekend of December 1 and 2,. If there is enough interest, we may be able to extend the rally through Thanksgiving weekend. If you ever wondered what it would be like to share Thanksgiving holiday with a few of your closest forum friends, this may be the ideal opportunity. There are currently only 21 sites available for us to reserve, although there will be a few non reservable sites for overflow, or people that decide to join us at the last minute.
We had lots of fun last year, and this year should be even better than last year. Please post here in this thread if you are interested, and if you would be interested in extending the rally for a few days to enjoy a holiday rally.
Here is the url for the reservation page: http://pubtitlet.co.pinellas.fl.us/p...archByDate.jsp
If you just want to look around first, here is the url for the home page for Fort DeSoto park:

Trying to make it work
Overlander63,
We are attending our first forum rally in October here in GA. Our daughter just left for a month long study of ceramics (she's a potter) in China, we want to see her soon after she returns to the states. She is currently living in St Petersburg so to combine a visit with her and to meet more folk with aluminitis sounds great now we need to try and get our work calendars to facilitate the trip. If we arrived Friday late and stayed through the weekend then we could leave sometime during the week with our daughter in tow for Thanksgiving with the family in the ATL. Probably more then you needed to know but we are thinking out loud, kind of people. Hope it works out.

Last year in September, we had a lot of fun. We showed a move on the side of a coach, had happy hours, fried chicken dinner, and made some repairs to trucks etc. Some of us made a day trip into St. Pete to the Dali museum. There is lots to do for all ages in the area. Fort DeSoto has fishing, biking, or you can just sit, relax and get to know each other. I'm sure we will have a pot luck dinner. If we decide to have thanksgiving dinner there, Terry and I have family members and numerous friends who will loan us the use of the ovens to cook the birds/hams in. (we just haven't told them yet)
So, come one and all to Fort DeSoto and join us for good fun and food.
(we'll provide the "mudslides".)
Marie

Folks, I can't promise this one, but I'd love to. It seems I have some repairs to do to the trailer, which is sitting in a pasture by a pole, needing a repair which requires a hard, dry surface to work on, which requires a concrete pad for the trailer to sit on, which requires a gravel road to get the concrete truck there, which requires mucho funding.
So far, I have the pole, the pasture, and the gravel road.
I bought a twenty-five gallon blue-boy for just in case, and my sister's comment after hearing how I wanted the pad high enough to get a good dump: "So you're gonna put the Airstream up on a pedestal in the pasture, huh?"
The long-range plan is to use the pad as the basis of a pole barn which I'll eventually enclose to make a long skinny garage big enough to fit a 34' Airstream.
If I have any bucks left to rub together when all this craziness is done, I'll try to join you folks.
Lamar

Lamar, I replaced my axles in 20 degree weather on a limestone parking lot. If I can do it, so can you! Black or grey tank problems????

I am going to suggest a date change.
There are NO spaces available for RV's on the original weekend.
There are 30+ currently available the first weekend in December.
Thoughts, comments, diatribes???

That would work for me.
Terry - the reference was to my ability to be the bottom post and stay there, stay there, stay there.

I think that would also work for us. When we get back home, I will make reservations (unless that weekends is booked by then).

I'm so jealous! Can't make it as I have to do the work thing... but am currently planning my 1st trip to Fort DeSoto as a camper, not just as a daily visitor, for next spring.
Hope everyone has a great time...
Cheers!

Just picked up a big project at work and the month of November is a no go . Guess the welcome home visit will be a mother daughter thing. Our other job (School teachers at a boarding school) keeps the month of December out. Maybe next year or this summer since we have family in the area. Thanks for offering another date.

It seems we have site #156.
Much though I dislike pressuring people, December is the beginning of tourist season here, and if you wait much longer to get your reservations, you will be on the outside looking in. See what happened just last week with the first dates for the rally.

There is only one site left for those dates, and it is in the "no pet" section.

Michael, it is the weekend of December 1 and 2. If you feel like coming REALLY far South, you could always courtesy park in our driveway.
