'First Weekend Shindig' at Topsail

This is a thread to discuss the possibility to put together a Rally at Topsail the first weekend in January. I would love to attend the 2008 Can Opener but due to a son in school can not go at the later date. If anyone is interested in the first weekend please post here and we will work out the details.

making reservations for topsail is best done at the reserve america website...

Great so we have an "Early Can Opener", If any one wants or can they can do both this weekend with New Years and the regular Can Opener on the 9-11th.

The Rally listing dose not like the 2009 date I have sent a msg. Requesting that it be corrected. I will list the dates as 12-31-08 to 1-4-09 so those who would like to bring the New Year in Florida can do so.

I just reserved site 166 arriving on the 31st leaving the 4th. Loop 103 has 19 sites available.

I think we'll consider this. We are due at John Pennekamp on Key Largo Jan 4, so this would give us a stop on the way down. I love Topsail, so...talking it over with Max. More soon. ~G

To avoid confusion, you shouldn't call it "Pre-Can Opener Rally". We all know it is for those whose schedule conflicts with being able to attend the Can Opener, but I can just see folks trying to keep the two separate if the name is in both.

Wish I could attend both, but my schedule doesn't allow me to do two trips to the Panhandle on back to back weekends and I have two sons in school and a wife that's a school teacher so I can't make it a week long trip to span both weekends...wouldn't it be nice though.

I think we should have "Team First Weekend" and "Team Canopener" meet on Wednesday between the rallies for a battle royale to settle this.

The Can Opener dates have not worked into our schedule so this one may be just the ticket. We're generally available the week between Christmas and Jan 1 but not after. Thanks for putting the idea out there. We'll keep you posted.

Oh, I didn't mean you couldn't use the words "Can Opener" in this rally's name, as in "Pre-Can Opener" or "Early Can Opener" as was suggested. I just meant that it would be confusing if they were used since the two rallies are back-to-back and at the same campground. I just wish I could attend both.

Minnie's Mate is correct the Shindig name keeps the confusion down, Devoman owns the Canopener name so out of respect to him I will stick with Shindig, besides I may have to deal with him at the next Canopener and want him on my side.

Looks like the Shindig is growing, if you have sites reserved please post them or PM the information and I will build a list and get it out. If I remember correctly a group of forum members attended a New Year’s party at one of the local restaurants if you have any details please post the information, this would be a great way to ring in the New Year.

LI Pets great, are you caravanning as a group?

The Rally calendar isn’t working correctly so we have no current roster. Cut and past or PM me and I will build a list.

We're not going to drive together we're all leaving on different days.

Plan is to be there on the 29th or 30th.

We'll be booking the sites next month or so, I don't expect any problems getting a spot.

Bob when I booked last week they had 19 sites in loop 103. Looking forward to see you there.

Just heard from Dave & Lorie from PA, they are looking to come to Topsail for New Years.

They were there last year also

We should start a site number list soon.
