Sugarfoot - I love it! That's just hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.
Mario - Sorry for "stealing" your spot from last year. Yes, I remembered that was where y'all were last Fall. I kept going down the row of sites until she could find one that was open for us. Glad that we'll be neighbors! We'll be passing through Nashville in Sept on our way to IL to camp with Joel's family. Maybe we'll stay at a Wal-Mart in town and meet y'all somewhere for dinner. I'll PM you as the date gets closer. We were in town to pick up the Bambi from Middle TN Airstream, but had to make it up and back in one day - we had coffee hour at church on Sunday. Darn commitments cut into our camping time
This is shaping up to be another great rally! I can't wait! I wish we could make it to the Pigeon Forge rally in a few weeks, but we're busy

Now how is it that y'all in the PCC seem to just happen to be in the right place at the right time to procure all these wonderful vintage campers for your group . . . is it serendipitous or do you have some sort of Pickens County vintage camper cartel going on there?
Glen, we've got to find you some company over there.
Now that is funny!! Just lucky..and between us we cover ALOT of mountian highway...we have several that we've located and are trying to rescue from thier kudzu patches and find them good loving homes. The Shasta was just too cool!

Man, I've got to go peel away the kudzu growing down the road from the house. I may find a vintage beauty!
I was in the NC mountains this past weekend for a rally (non/A/S) and saw a early 60's vintage A/S (owner not home), a Silver Streak, probably used as storage from looks, and a small canned ham type among some big overgrown pine trees. The A/S might be worth another look. Always on the lookout for the next trailer that I don't need.
OK boys and girls, Im gonna go out on a limb here and book a spot hoping to actually have a usable camper by the fall.
So I need a little advice form some of you seasoned Hiawasee pros. Are there any sites in area 1 to avoid? Somebody mentioned a few posts back that some of these sites may be hard to back into? Hilly? Im looking at maybe sites 38 to 40 or so, maybe 50 to 52?
Jim

Go for it, man! if it keeps the rain off your head it's good enough!
sites 50-52 are already booked. not sure about the others.
The spots are definitely hilly, but tell the girl at the counter you have a longer trailer, and she'll set you up. I think all the lake front stuff is gone now, though.
Yes I did move our reservations, I should have mentioned that on my last post. Ruth and I have 80 and we booked 77 for David and Julie but I don't think they are going to be able to make it but I think some other friends are taking the other spot...if I help them get their Argosy ready. They used to use it as a family camper for years but haven't had it out in years. It's actually one of my hot rod buddies parents. It's the camper he grew up camping in. He and I are going to have to do some work on the tow vehicle and I'm going to try and help his dad with the camper as well. We're trying to get a car put together for this years Hot Rod Power Tour or we would have helped them get it going for the Springstream. Hopefully I'll also have time to put a new floor in our Caravel before then and freshen the polish too. The flooring that is in there I put in about 8 years ago and it's showing it's age. Ruth really liked the bamboo flooring someone had put in one of the campers, does anyone remember who that was? It seems like it was a Airstream motorhome. I'd like to know where they got that particular flooring??? We'll look forward getting together with the group again in that beautiful setting!
Geven, I just got off the phone with the campground. She told me she doesn't have any Airstreamers in Area 2 now that she knows of. She was kind enough to give me a list of all the remaining sites available as of this minute in Area 1. They are:
25 25A 28 29 36 38 44 47 49 55 through 63 65 through 74 78 and 79
That's 29 sites as of May 2, 2007 at 9:22 AM. I'm sure some have length limitations, so call early to get something that works for you.
. . . And yes would somebody please book over on my island....(doh!..'scuse me..make that "peninsula".... I don't want to be over there all by my lonesome... folks will think us antisocial. Besides think of the view looking back at area one with all that shinny aluminum.
Glen, uh, if the camp office is correct there is nothing left on the peninsula and you're surrounded by SOBs.
Geven, yes it was a motorhome, the first one we all toured. IIRC, the owner said he got the flooring at Home Depot. If he doesn't reply, check with HD and see if they have it in stock or can order it. Or you might try posting to the Springstream thread and see if he gets an e-mail notification and responds to that.

Go for it Jim. I'd like to met you and Susan since we missed you two this spring. It'd be nice to meet some fellow Forum 'streamers that live close by.

WooHOO, Clancy Boy! Site 49 it is. Now I can make plans.
BTW, ALANSD and Camperski, check that you have solid confirmation on your sites. Your's (44, 47, 61, 62) are sites the office gave me as OPEN. She could have been confused since I was probably overwhelming her with my questions.
