O.K. I'm only going to ask this one more time... I have not seen any mention of WHY we can't use the pavillion in area 2 as we did this Spring. If the pavillion is not reserved I suggest we do so. Cost shouldn't be an issue.
Julie and I walked all over the camp and I can tell you it's not that far over to the pavillion.
Let's not try to reinvent the wheel here folks.... the area 1 topography may make finding a place to put all the "vendor tents" problematic anyway.
Has anyone called the campground to enquire about the pavillion? I'll be happy to do so if need be.
Just let me knowd.

Actually, it may be the best option, IMHO. Rentals cost way more, set up and take-down of anything additional is time consuming and a hassle, tables are already there, and tapping into a power supply for the band would be a non-issue across the road. The biggest downside is parking for 25+ autos. I don't see most of us walking across 4 lanes of traffic to Area 2 juggling potluck dishes.

Alan, anyone else, any thoughts?

That would be awesome! I would love to meet the legendary Terry and Marie in person.

If this works, do y'all think you would make it to the campground by noon?

I did talk to the staff about the pavilion in Area 2. It can be reserved for $50. There is parking there too, since it is a long, long way from Area 1 camping (and across US 76 too).

I agree that Area 1 topography presents challenges for tents. When I thought about it, the little tents would be good for small groups, scattered close to whereever the food would hide. And in some areas, the beach has enough width to accomodate large groups. Dunno.

I liked the pavilion area just to eliminate some variables that will affect our gathering. The temperature could also be nasty cold and the pavilion does little for that... Oops, it will be great weather! What a beautiful day in the mountains!

Here's a link to an updated site map. You can click the "Download" link above the pic and save it to your computer to enlarge and print if you wish.

I'll keep this map updated as folks tell their site numbers. As we get closer to the rally date I'll post it to the forum again as an image attachment.

Parking should be a non-issue IMO. There is a small parking area adjacent to the pavillion as well as the roadside by the tennis courts and the gravel area behind the dump station.
I called and the pavillion can be ours for $50.00....so far.

Glen, lets do it. I forgot about the gravel area behind the station. Regardless of the weather (and it WILL be gorgeous!) the convenience of picnic tables and power will make it worth it. Plus, there is the playground nearby. PizzaChop and Camperski really need a place for the kids to work off some energy after supper.

As for the acoustic renditions, we can stage a campfire back in Area 1 after. Providing Alan's voice holds out. We don't have the point this year, but there will be plenty of room on the beach in front of sites 41-48.

I'm up for pitching in a few dollars on the pavilion, too. I also have one of those quick set up 10X10 "vendor" style tents if we need it. We might could set some of them up on the beach area after the pot-luck if we need to.

The area 2 pavillion is ours! We could also have used the other pavillion up top by the gardens but if temps are lower our old spot should be just fine.
With the number of units attending I figure aboiut a buck a head from each adult will cover our cost.....kids eat free.

Actually, I had planned to farm them out to the rest of you!

The pavillion made a big difference, and while I'm not crazy about having to carpool over to the potluck, it probably is the best solution.

I was hoping the kids would be grown by then...i'd be closer to retirement....and possibly an FT Streamer. Since that's not going to happen I'll go with Pizza's idea!

Ya'll are too much! There must be at least 16 kids within your groups combined. Let's see, that would be around 0.64 kids per rig . . . .

Thanks, Glen. The picnic tables there really worked out well too. Count me in for sharing the cost.

If we are going to have a Sunday breakfast get-together, maybe the beach would be suitable. People would have to bring some tables (and chairs), but that's usually not hard to arrange.
