I guess we could watch the weather and see. I may have access to some free vinyl/aluminum whatchmacallits that will work, they use them at my school for the carnivals and such.

I would love to do this, but since the parents of the bride own a campground (Rivercreek campground), 10 miles east of chimney rock at Lake Lure NC, and that's where the wedding is, we kinda need Moose and Goliath to stay in.

But if we can we will drop by on Sunday. I really want to meet and greet those of our airstream family who have been so kind to us that are attending the rally.

Soooooooooooo, look for us that Sunday.

Marie

Anyone know what it costs to rent a tent? It wouldn't have to be a fancy one, just something over our heads.

Pat
A 30x30 tent will run you just under $500, from A-1 tent rental in Atlanta.

Gee, Terry, maybe we don't need a tent after all!

When my fly fishing club has outings several of us bring 10 x 10 foot awnings. We put them together and form a mini tent. I bought mine at Cosco and we use it all the time. Takes only a few minutes to put up and a few more to take down.

Tents

We have two 10x10 vendor pop-ups. I can borrow 2 more. Linked together that would be 400 sq. ft. If anyone has similiar (straight leg, adjustable height) tents we can tie them together. If it rains there would be dripping between the tents but hey, it beats umbrellas.

on edit: flycaster & I were thinking and typing at the same time. They do the little fly fishing thing and we do whole hogs. Same tent, different strokes.

I will check local sources just in case, but if Alan has anything close to what we might need, maybe we can suppliment that. As azflycaster says, there may be smaller ones that will serve us well.

Of course, the weather might cooperate too.

I also was curious as to whether there were any indoor "venues" available, and at what cost. I remember scraping frost off my fingers last year (not really, just a little chilly).

Hopefully we will not be "sittin on the side of the road", wishin we had a piece of pie while waiting for the tow truck.....

And with a bit of cooperation, maybe our '03 diesel has had it's moment of bad behavior for the year and we can make a 3 hour drive without a major problem.

I have to add this story about the 10 x 10's.

My fishing club had an outing 2 weeks ago and it snowed and it rained. Just before the pot luck dinner we were going around and knocking any water off that had collected during the day. A few of the less expensive tents had caught a few gallons at each side. When I emptied one of the larger puddles I dumped it right on one of my friends dog's. 2 galons of very cold water on his back. The dog grows at me now!

Certainly did not mean to offend you...but I am glad you didn't see the things I wrote off-line. Really, I just wanted the tent for one night, not a month!

But Alan indicated there may be some available that we can use, and members can add some too. And that's only if the weather is gonna dog us out.

We are really looking forward to camping this summer and beyond in our new-to-us '83. I looked at our site for back-in issues, and low hanging branches are a possible problem. I will be back up there later this year and look again.

We have access to one of these also, if needed.

What's all this planning for a rainy day, tents, awnings, etc.... - I predict that we will be under the stars listening to the band, enjoying the company, campfire, food and drink.

Think POSITIVE Ya'll
