We're coming to North GA in the fall

This is my project 1975 International that I'm replacing the rearbath floor. I promised some pics of the projects so here we go. This bad girl has spent to many days in saltwater areas and the underbelly had unbelieveable rust problems, but not now. When I complete the underside, plans are to refinish the bath fixtures, replace the flooring (Linoleum), install PEX water system, lay down hardwood and then the dreaded polishing.

Don't laugh she is going to be a thing of beauty back on the road living again. I can't express how much pleasure it brings me to know I've saved a piece of Americana and she will be back on the road where she belongs. Can I have an Amen!

Ditto to what Ron said and AMEN! Don't do what I did, don't slow down. Just keep moving and you'll get there. I'm this > < close to puting the insulation, then the walls back in. Then the new axles. Then we can actually pull it someplace and go camping!

We WILL see you in October.

Planning the Summer

Oops, the summer is really slipping away and soon it will be time to join fellow AirFORUMS members in GA. I have been working on many projects, but by far have not left the AS on hold. It is now on the front burner with all systems ready and waiting. Parts that I had recently ordered from RV supply have arrived and tomorrow I hope to install a new water heater.

Looks like there's a LOT of "last-minuters" this time! 10 weeks to go... better divy up the chores! As long as I can get a place sorted to SLEEP in my little one, I'm 90% certain we'll be bringing it! Oh, and at least a working fan... might get away with no AC in October...

see my 2 year project...

Site change

We just changed our site from #78 to #81 - a little closer to the water. I imagine #78 is now open. Last I knew, site #75 was available as well. We visited Hiawassee yesterday and while the campground classifies #75 as a pop-up site, it clearly would be suitable for a decent sized AS - my opinion.

Lots of work in a rearbath floor replacement

Those who have replaced rearbath floors, like "pizzachop" know how labor intensive this is. The bad thing is the more you uncover the more that needs to be replaced. The frame, the outriggers and the cross braces had to be replaced or at least sandblasted and painted because they were all rusted. I won't do another one, that's for sure. This project has been all on me, I'm saving my labor calls for the polishing chore. This thing if sitting out in the direct sun and this week and last it's been in the mid 90's. It has been almost unbearable.

Best wishes for success to those of you in the deep restoration jobs. It is well worth it when you get through to the other side of it. Then comes the fun part.
We were so blessed to have found our Soveriegn which needed little repair, just a major redo of the interior. I have just painted the ceiling which was on my list to do since last year.
We enjoyed the heck out of camping in it this summer, and look forward to seeing all the results of your hard work in the Fall. I know Ron's looks great and having seen it along the way its a testimony to perserverance.

Now everybody read what Camperski said "he loves to polish" I'll ask him that question again when we're about 200 hours into the project, this old girl has a lot of corrision on top. I'm headed back home today and plans are to get busy on the old girl. I have about 3 or 4 hours of outside work to finish the belly section and then I'll be refinishing the bathroom. I'm going to epoxy coat the fixtures, install a new toilet and some kind of flooring, not sure yet. I have 10 weekends left before the rally, so I'll have see about the polishing. I am looking forward to see others who have the same addiction as me and Camperski.

BJ

PS: Check it out I'm a 2 rivet man, now

anyone that would like to use their Cyclo on my Sovereign as a demo for all of us is welcome to. I would provide the Nuvite

On a serious note, did we decide to do the Saturday meal at a campsite or two? We musicians will need to figure that out, as if we go with a p.a. and all again, it could be a shocking event, literally, if not off the ground on something.

My understanding is that the Shelter that we used in spring was rented/reserved for us and we can chip in to pay the $50 fee. Or something like that...IIRC without going through old posts at least.

The shelter was great, but that is quite a shlep from where we'll be camped. Personally, I'd opt to stay close to our campsites. Maybe in this case less is more theory...
