Matt, our camping schedule is pretty full for the remainder of the year, but I may have to take you up on the rally at the Top invitation. We have been so busy camping other places, we haven't be able to make it to one of the TOG rallies yet. Maybe in the fall. I have always been afraid that there wouldn't be enough kids our sons' ages (10 & 7) for them to enjoy themselves which would mean I wouldn't be able to participate in the rally for having to entertain them. Sounds like that might not be an issue at the summer rallies.

I agree about desiring a progressive N. GA unit though. We camped at ToG last August and we were the only one's with kids and there was only one other couple there under 65 that weekend! Anyway, look forward to meeting you guys either at ToG or at the Falluminum.

As for tofu , no worries, I am not a red meat eater, but we will grill the heck our of chicken and fish. Espresso is a fave or ours, but I too drink regular STRONG coffee...love the Costco brand beans.
TOG was not a fun time for us, glad others found it better form their teens and tweens. Mine had a rotten time there, but that was then.
I am open to the new GA unit thing, if there are more than a handful who are interested. I do see the point of out type rallies as they are, as we have other brands frequently.
As I said earlier I would like to see us grow a bit into the "Vintage and not so vintage campers club". Or "aluminum and not aluminum campers club". You get the idea....open to anyone who might have an interest in what we are doing..... Its actually that way now, and ever expanding. No dues, few if any rules, just a few rallies a year, and some other casual smaller get togethers.
There are 37 members now on the southeast web site...maybe it will continue to grow and become more relevant and active.

Teenagers at the Top

I understand your concerns about Teens at the TOG. Our first trip was no fun for our (then) 14 y.o. Our daughter is more outgoing and learned to knit, play several new card games, and play Holey Board.

The second trip added several new wrinkles. They have added Wi-Fi and are including more kid activities. They actually had several kids' skits at the Saturday night meeting. We also had 2 campfires in the fire pit.

On a non-rally weekend, I would expect to use the Top as an inexpensive CG for Helen parts nearby. Tubing on the river, shoping, waterpark, fudge shop, minature golf, etc. are all nearby.

It isn't Fort Wilderness, but the folks there are trying to provide more...and it is only $7 / night for full hookups.

Matt

Flatrock to Franklin

Tammy and I made the rounds from the playhouse Friday night, and ended in Helen on Sunday. Our first trip out this year without the camper (or kids) celebrating 15 years. As usual wlak talked campers, looked for campers, and stopped at a few camp grounds along the way.

Cascade Lake- outside Brevard we may try something in September there

Ga Mtn Fair- Well the fair was going on, checked out the sites for the fall

Top of Ga- I drooled at all that aluminum as we went by, Tammy said to stop, but I knew they don't allow our Spartans and Shastas

Yonah Mtn. - had a few good sites we plan to stay there the week before fallaluminum.

Scott has his 1950 Manor disassembled and is going back together with it...he might make another "stunning" appearence in his "newest" Spartan. Although something wouldn't be right about leaving the Royal Spartanette at home.

PS - We found an Imperial Spartanette, don't know if we can convience the gentlemen that there are better means to have for storage buildings......its a really cool one!

Like I should be surprised. With your luck you could easily commandeer and control the largest Spartan fleet in North America. Y'all are unbelievable.

Now you're talking real food and drink

I'm going to have to checkout the TOG park. We love the Helen, GA area. Can you be a member of more that one WBCCI unit? We are kinda sorta Georgia residents, since both of our kids live there (Atlanta and Savannah). You guys sound like a good group. The Florida Unit (027) is a great group, but our activities shut down in the summer.

Countdown to a Fall Rally

These summer days are long and take such a toll
so go ahead and mark off time
until fresh morns comfort the soul.

Mom would always say, don’t wish your life away
but can you just imagine
air so cool it will make you want to stay.

A place does not the party make
but in the fall who offers better
than mountains heaped upon your plate.

Little kids will run helter skelter
Big kids will harmonize and social animals be
Our roadships will sit and wait, ever glad to be your shelter.

So close your eyes and you can feel
all the way along your trip
Chatuge is calling and we have so much time to kill.

em.

You can be a member of a unit as your primary or home unit and be an associate member of as many additional units as you want. Any WBCCI member can camp at ToG for $7/night and I think any WBCCI member can attend one of their rallies. If not, they do have buddy rallies at different times of the year. If you go to the WBCCI web site and drill down to the membership committee chair, she can give you further details that I am not familiar with.

Water site #75

Does anyone remember whether site 75 would accomodate a 27'? We should have our 27FB by then and it would be nice to face the dinette towards the water. It looks like that site is designed for a pop-up, but it is hard to tell from the map.

Brad, call back and ask 'em. When I made reservations, they asked the size of the trailer and turned down my first couple of choices because the sites were too small.

I seem to remember that site was on a steep incline (like many in there) and fast drop off to the lake. There was an older Overlander (?) there last year, It was one of the guys tere that had an AL boat. You should fit but I would call and confirm.

last year I pulled our trade wind in head first so our porch and awning would face the lake. If you do that, bring extra long water and elelctric cords, though!

I'm in the spot David had last year with the overlander and aluminum boat(s)! Moved ONE spot down. ha! I would love to get my boat done in time, but it's either the boat or the little airstream... i need to quit my job so I can catch up on my hobbies! 2 years off should do it!
