been a few weeks and zero action on this thread...anyone out there wanting to come or thinking about it, advisable to make a res, you can always get someone to take it over if you change your mind.

I agree. I chose F10 to be near the pavilion, but I know some people like the views from the hill, and some people like access to the water.

Here is the map, and a link to that: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds: Hiawassee, Georgia: Country Music Capital of Georgia

From the website (emphasis is mine): "
Campgrounds

Scattered throughout the fairgrounds are 189 camping and RV sites that offer modern conveniences such as water, electricity, telephone and cable service. There are 92 sites in the first area and 97 paved sites, open year-round, in the second area. Most sites offer beautiful views of Lake Chatuge, and campers can take advantage of the fairgroundsí many amenities including two playgrounds, a boat ramp, two tennis courts, paved playing courts, shaded picnic tables and the Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens. Reservations can be made by calling (706) 896-4191."

I wasn't sure where to book. I called twice and the lady I spoke with was not helpful.

For those considering attending

You'll want Area Two. If you want to be surrounded by Airstreams, select section A. It is a longer walk to the pavilion and there is limited parking at the pavilion for the few who bring instruments, cooking gear, or lots of prepared dishes, but it is not really far away. Section A is forested and on a hill so no fires allowed. However, it is easy to drift from site to site, extending your friendship ring, and seeing all the units during open house.

Sections B & C are waterside, tucked really close to one another, and will be mostly non-affiliated campers with an assortment of rigs from pop-ups to motorhomes. Those sites, as well as D, E & F, allow fires. D, E, & F are on a knob with some trees, close to the pavilion, and will have a mix of rig types but you will be surrounded on all sides by camp sites.

Join us wherever and look forward to a terrific weekend.

That is very good to know. We got A 26, so being first timers we can get to know everyone.

I didn't know about it, and I don't know if we can come or not. But are there still spaces?

Reservations can be made by calling (706) 896-4191. Only the campground can reply about availability. They do try to hold back section A as long as possible.

We just reserved a site ... A-something or other. We'll look forward to joining y'all for our first Airstream thing. Since it's our first, we don't know what's expected, or what to bring (other than that big silver thing that follows us everywhere).

Any suggestions?

Does anyone know if dogs are allowed in the park?
