Falluminum Fun

This Rally sounds like tons of fun. We live near Helen and are new to the Forum and Airstreaming. We purchased our 1969 Overlander 2 years ago and have been working to restore it. We just got back from the Smokies and saw this thread. Wish I had known about it earlier. Would it be possible for us to stop by on Saturday afternoon to visit briefly with your group and get a feel for rallying.

Brenda & Craig,

You are very welcome to spend a good portion of Saturday wandering among the silver afflicted. The open house starts at 1 and you can see a wide variety of trailers and decors. There is no penalty for using any ideas or insights gained at the event. I doubt anyone will object to you bringing your camera along to record your experience.

If you haven't been to the campground before, just drive into the main entrance and continue past the music hall on the left. Park at the pavilion across from the tennis courts and then walk towards the water behind the bath house to follow the pavement uphill.

+1 to the information posted by SeeMore but why just visit on Saturday when you can stay a night or two? Hitch up the trailer and come on over. Yes, the original rally sites are full but there are plenty of sites available on the south side of the road and it's not that far away.

As others have said, this is an informal group and we have lots of fun. It's hard to imagine that you wouldn't like us and vice-versa. Call the campground and make a reservation.

Yes we have many over the years and a few so far this year who booked across the road. That way you can take advantage of the evening events on Saturday as well.

Sorry to hear about the ankle. We were looking forward to meeting you two after lurking on the Canopener threads. Hope to see you in January.

Russ, that is too bad that the outcome of Linda tripping you resulted in a broken ankle and you won't be able to attend. I am sure she feels remorse.

I'm hopeful that the guilt will result in special nursing care - sponge baths, back rubs, etc

What's Happening at Falluminum

For those who are new or those who forget easily

No rules no dues nothing but fun and aluminum!

Friday Night- arrive, set up and wander to meet and greet. Pavillion is available to those who want to dine or drink together.

Saturday 9:30 AM Pot Luck Brunch. At Pavillion ( Near tennis courts) Bring a dish or something to share. A big coffee pot is welcomed. Griddles for pancakes and such.

12:30 Tour of homes. Always a favorite, we will walk around starting at the pavillion and enjoy seeing those Trailers and campers that folks want to open up to all. Get ideas for remodeling or buying your next one, or simply enjoy.

5:00 PM Chili share at pavillion. Bring your chili in a crockpot or what have you. Sample others and share recipes. We might vote on the favorite- but no stress.
followed by
6PM
Pot Luck dinner- you know what to do, we will set tables outside as a buffet line. using both sides. Parents need to watch the kids so they don't over load the plates or eat only desserts!
You may bring whatever beverage you enjoy.

6:30
Gift raffle. Bring a gift to put in the pile, you get a ticket in return. We will pull tickets and everyone who has one will get a gift back. Swapping with a neighbor is certainly allowed.

Music- following the gift swap we will have Ron Kaes and his gang play a few songs, then the Not-A-Band Band returns for a set, followed by the Airstream favorite- ANTSY McLain. He should hit the "stage" at 7:30 "ish".

Cleanup after dinner and enjoy campfires, Thor the mighty cauldron with all that goes along.

This is going to be a spectacular weekend for weather, and the leaves on the mountainsides and throughout the park should be gorgeous. I'm always excited to see everyone having a good time. This will be no exception.

Sunday: you are on your own to relax and soak it up. Shannon and I have to head out to a wedding, so we will hit the trail mid- morning.

another tip- Bring your own plates and utensils to the meals. For the chili we have some (80 or so) small paper sample cups you can use, but a small bowl of your own will work.
