Fall Rally in Northern Illinois

Time for another Fall Rally in Northern Illinois.

We'll meet September 27, 28 and 29. at the Seward Bluffs Campground. The park is located between Rockford and Freeport, south of Route 20 ,off of Pecatonica Road.

The Park has plenty of gravel and grass sites with 30 and 50 amp electric. Water hydrants throughout the park and a dump station.

Fall Forum Finger Food And Fondue Feast

Our Fall fests have featured flavors from fiestas to fettuccine, fruit pies to flan.
In the past we're grazed on appetizers to the point of wondering if we can stuff down the main course.

This time. our Saturday potluck will have a No Silverware theme.
Only finger foods or pieces served with tooth picks and skewers. I know we have a bunch of creative cooks out there. Plan on plenty of variety.
We'll post details and a food list as we get closer.

Additionally it's been suggested that we have an optional Friday Fondue Night.
More on that later.

With luck we won't get frozen out this time.

I sit here in 100 degree temp reading this post that in 2 months we might have freezing temps. Shiver me timbers. Sounds like this will be a fun adventure.

We would like to join you. Wanted to make some of your earlier Northern Illinois rallies, but couldn't work the calendar out, but this time I think we can do it.

No reservations are required. Well, actually the park doesn't accept them.
We've never had an issue with a lack of space. We usually come out early and clue in the campground host. He'll let the SOBs know theres a bunch of AirHeads gathering so we can count on camping together.

Like Dana and Mike it's hot here in Oswego, should be pleasant then. We will be busy as Nascar week Joliet, then Mark Twain Lake, then Sewards Bluff, if nothing happens will be there. Bill & Penny

6 weeks to the Friday fondue and than the finger food on Saturday. Sounds interesting. Don't forget your "wet ones" and napkins/paper towels.

My wife and I are relatively new Airstream owners and were hopeful that we could make this rally and meet others in the Northern IL unit but unfortunately it falls on parents weekend for one of our college students. Sounds like fun but we will have wait for the next one.

Here’s the update for Friday night.

There will be an optional gathering Friday night for Fondue. Dana and Sue will be providing a traditional Cheese Fondue.
If you are coming please bring you’re own meat, chicken or beef or whatever you like and your favorite two or three sauces for passing.

We can't make it this year. Promised my aunt that we'd take her to the Pancreatic Cancer Walk at the Detroit Zoo on 9/29 (she lives near there). She's a two year survivor, doing amazingly well after pancreas removal.
Stayed at Seward Bluff over the Fourth of July - nice campground.

Count us in. Sue just reminded me of the rally. As usual things are crazy at the ILL household. Emily might not make it as is Homecoming weekend. We will see.

This is a ghost from the past talking - we considered secretly crashing this BUT it's the same weekend as the LAST Elkhorn (WI) flea market of the season - and we have no choice but to work it - our Main Street at the shop has been under construction again all summer- second time in 6 years ! What happened to OCTOBER?

we are in, bringing saute'd mushrooms and onions for Friday night and some sauces too, not sure about Saturdays meal yet. weather permitting we hope to do some bike rides, the country roads right out of the park have very little traffic. cale

Rachelle. Glad to see you’re still with us. This whole work thing really cuts into the quality camping time.

We moved the Fall Rally back this year to September because we’re tired of being frozen in the evenings. The last couple events have been pretty damn cold.

911Patriot. Hope you can come out and join us this Fall. Nice park with lots to do in and around the area.

We’re still working on our menu. I’ll be bringing some Spinach Bars and a couple more items. Sue reminded me to tell everyone to bring enough to feed the group. We are at about 8-10 Airstreams coming in at this time. She says she’ll post her appetizers soon.

Moraine View 2013 was our first ever rally. Had a good time and met wonderful people. Would love to come to this one, however, the bucket list is taking us to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Rally. We are leaving on the 29th. We will be 1 of the 200 Airstreams meeting at Camping World on Friday 10/4 and caravanning into the park.
Hopefully we will see everyone in June at Moraine View 2014.

Cant believe 2 weeks to the fall rally, hope weather is like toay maybe a bit warmer.

Fri nite is the optional fondue. Everyone must bring their own meat and a few sauces for all to partake. Anyone with an extra fondue pot please bring it along. Dana and I will be bringing the chocolate fondue and the dippings.

Saturday nite will be appetizers only that can be eaten with no utensils. Please bring two appetizers enough to feed the group.
Dessert will be provided by Sue and Dana and will also be no utensils.
