The countdown is on! Next Thursday a number of us will be arriving for the Fall Rally in Northern Illinois; formally the Fall Pecatonica Rally. This should be an interesting rally seeing what is being planned. Fondue and finger food, I'm sure glad their not the same night.
If you are planning on attending, let us get an update list so we can try to "save" spots. There are NO reservations at the campground.
C U there.

Going to pick up the trailer from storage in the morning. Got Friday off next week. Planning to roll as soon as the last kid gets home from school. Emily will be staying home. It is Home coming weekend for her. So sad, my little girl is growing up....

Plan to be there Thurs eve

Hi all, looking forward to meeting you.
We plan to be there Thurs evening, will be arriving after dark so I hope it will be easy to spot the right place to go. We will have our Excella 28'.
Ed will be working Friday during the day, but Eileen will be having fun all day.
Is it OK to bring a dog? Haven't decided for sure whether we would or not, thought I'd better check in advance.
Also haven't figured out our food contributions...
What qualifies as fondue? I picture a cheese sauce for dipping bread chunks in, but that is probably just dating myself---probably a lot more exotic these days.

Looking forward to meeting you. I am not sure, but I think we met at a Iowa WBCCI.
We will have "landing lights and runway" ready for you.
As for the fondue, there will be cheese , chocolate and oil/butter pots. Beef, chicken, fruit, bread, veggis, and cake to dip and variety of sauces. I have a horseradish and herb dip. These are examples.
If you are coming via US 20, it is about 10 miles east of Freeport to Pecatonica. There is a stop light at the intersection, turn right about 1 mile.
See you than;
Mike and Dana

Hard to believe we are a few days away from our fall outing, lets hope for good weather. Bring canopies and extra tarps just in case.

Friday evening will be the optional fondue dinner. Everyone needs to bring their own meat and a few sauces to pass. Dana and I will be providing the cheese fondue and the dessert fondue.

Saturday nite is our finger food no utensil dinner, toothpicks will be allowed. Since this will be our dinner please bring two finger foods to pass for the group to enjoy.

Tom has found events in the areas such as wine tastings, farmers markets and shows in the area on Saturday for those who are interested.

Safe trip to all see you soon
Tom and Sue

Thumbs up 3 Days and Counting

Checked the 10 day weather for Pec. Beautiful weather this time out. Might even need shorts.
Fridge is on, the trailer is being loaded, foods being prepped and we’re excited to head out for a long weekend.
I’m planning to be at Seward Bluffs between Noon and 1:00 Thursday to check out the sites and warn the Campground Host.
Sue’s coming out early afternoon Thursday after work.

Safe travels. See everybody soon,
Tom

We will have a guest showing up on Saturday morning around 9-10. She picked up a 64 and wants to have it inspected. Tammy will be coming in from Galena and is looking forward to meeting us. Now be nice guys!! LOL I hope that we do not scare her away from the forums. From what she has told me it is in really good shape other than the PO put a window AC unit in the back window. She wants to put the window back in, but dose not have the original.

Fall Rally Recap

Another Fall Rally is over.

Pulling in on Thursday found a Grandmother with a pair of young children had parked in the middle of the open area. She was hoping to hold spots for the rest of the family. I was hoping to use that for a wagon wheel or ring arrangement.
No matter. We moved up the hill a bit into the trees and secured some wooded sites and some pull-throughs across the street. This worked out well as we had some late arrivals on Thursday night and the pull-throughs were just the ticket.

Some of our regulars couldn’t make this meet, but we had some 1st timers attend.
Eileen and Ed drove in from Iowa. Come to find out they are restoring a couple of 1950’s Airstreams back home.

Pat and Joe stopped in for an overnight stay with their newly refurbished 92. Everyone was blown away with the total interior refinishing work Pat did. An amazing job. The use of more contemporary textures and color made the inside sparkle.

Tammy brought in a 64 Overlander she just bought for Ted inspect. Aside from the PO hanging a window air unit out the back window the trailer’s in good condition and ready for a rehab. Thanks for rescuing this Vintage rig and letting everyone have a look.

Friday night the fondue pots came out and we filled up on deep fried bits of meat and cheese soaked bread. Kale made little cinnamon sugar bites for a desert snack.

Fall Rally Recap

The weather finally cooperated and we had a beautiful weekend with only a short spell of slight drizzle late Saturday afternoon.
With the miserable weather we’ve had the last few outings nothing could stop us from filling 3 tables full of finger foods. We sampled a wide array of tid-bits from sweet to savory.
The heavier rain held off until 9:30 causing everyone to scatter from the campfire. Personally I think you all were looking for an excuse to go lay down and digest after grazing on the table full of appetizers.

We're planning the Spring Rally for the 2nd or 3rd week on May. I’ll post when we get everything finalized.

Thanks to everyone for making this another great Fall Gathering. We hope to see you all again next year.

Tom and Sue

Northern IL Fall Rallly

"Pat and Joe stopped in for an overnight stay with their newly refurbished 92." Actually it was Mary & Joe with their '91 remodel.
Thank you all for your hospitality and picking such a beautiful spot to get acquainted. Joe and I greatly enjoyed it. - Mary
