We're getting close. Spending the night in Coloma. Had a slight change of plans. We're going to the President Ford Museum in Grand Rapids Tuesday, then head north... We had originally planned on going to the Ford Library in Ann Arbor and then The Henry Ford in Dearborn, but were afraid we wouldn't have enough time Sunday to go to GR, and that's a priority (next to the Rally)...

We are still planning on being in Mackinaw on Wednesday...

We will bring dessert, but am not sure exactly what yet.

We've been at the Indian Casino in St. Ignace since Saturday. $10 per night or comped. Power & Water.

We are going down tommorrow.

Dawn & I will be providing Ohio Wines for tasting at dinner.

Thank you

We're excited, too....looking forward to our 1st Airstream rally & to being "up north" again. But, before I get back to packing...let me take a minute to thank the organizers of the event. Steve & Kelly, what an awesome job. (& if others participated in the rally planning, thanks too.) Seems as though you thought of everything.

You think they'd let us have a rally there sometime if we all promise to gamble everyday? :-)

So....Dan, Dawn (my new BFFs) are you sharing some of them there winnings as well? I think we should split the pot 30 ways so all of us get a piece of the action.

Keep those one armed bandits rolling or the dealers dealing or the wheels spinning and set my share aside.

The Henry Ford

While Kelly was busy today planning her global Subway Restaurant domination, I went down to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Wow. I skipped a lot and still spent five hours there.

1) VW and Airstream were just meant to be together.
2) Inside the Dymaxion House.
3) Outside the Dymaxion House.
4) First electrified house in Menlo Park, NJ where Edison worked.
5) 1600s Cotswald Cottage shipped from England.
6) Cotswald Cottage.
7) The Firestone Farmstead.

Kelly & Steve

You two have done such a great job of promoting and planning this rally; I am sorry to say that I will not be able to come. My wife had replacement hip surgery 5 weeks ago, to replace a recalled Deppuy Hip, and she can not travel that far and needs me here to care for her. I was planning on going by myself, but she needs me here for emotional support and to help keep peace with some other family situations (drama). I told her that I know this is going to be a great rally and that there will be a rerun next year, and that we will be going on a two week trip to Michigan via a circle tour through Niagara Falls, up the Bruce Peninsula to Tobermory, take the ferry to Manitoulin Island, over to Sault Saint Marie, and then to Tequaminan Falls and finally down to Mackinac City.

I have contacted the campground and cancelled and told them that I hope another Air Streamer (like Maxwell) can get my site and be in the middle of all the Airstream fun.

Please let me know what I owe you.

Sorry again, Dan

Laird and I spent the day in Grand Rapids. Started the day at Penzey's Spices then to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Meyer May House. Had lunch at Founder's Brewery and then spent the afternoon at the Meijer Sculpture Gardens. What a great day! Tomorrow we'll head up to Mackinaw Mill Creek to join you all. We've had a great "Pure Michigan Experience" so far and know the fun is just beginning.

I have been watching this thread with envy.... My wife and I leave for Alaska tomorrow (not complaining) to stay with friends for a week so we are not able to join everyone this year. Especially frustrating since it's in our home state! Michigan is amazing, and I hope everyone enjoys their stay.

Good Evening everyone!

We tried to get in early but were told that there were no available spaces tonight oh well. We did find a nice campsite on our way up from Grand Rapids about an hour south of Mackinaw, so we are not too far away...

Dan,
Next year for sure! Stay on the thread and "visit" through the pictures that get posted. Please give our get well wishes to your wife. She has been through a lot for sure. With that new hip, she'll be riding the horses on Mackinac Island next year! Best personal regards, Kelly

Hey Y'all,
We are getting a late start up north, just a little bit, but no worries! Tina and Ed please hold down the fort. We are hauling a 15,000 lb. boat and have to roll up north nice and easy. We will get there any time between 1 p.m. and maybe 3 p.m. at the outside. AND GUESS WHAT!!!! IT IS MY VERY FIRST CARAVAN. I'm peeing my pants (well, kinda). It will be The Pole Dancer in the lead, I'll be in the rocking chair, followed by Tin Loaf taking all kinds of pictures. Did you see his pictures of the Henry Ford and Greenfield Village? They are amazing. I'm ready for a glass of wine, a glowing fire, and the full moon tonight! See you soon with all the goodies and registration stuff. Hang in there.

Kelly
