We would LOVE to go salmon or any kind of fishing.

Is Petoskey state park the firm location, and which sites?

Here's the campground map for Tannery Creek Campground. I'd like to try to get everyone to pick sites together and that will be easiest if we choose less desirable sites, i.e. away from the beach and bathrooms.

At first glance I think we should stay away from the south end where all the 50 amp electric sites are because I'm sure the big motorhomes will crowd that section.

I like the look of the northern loop sites 81 through 100. Everyone in the campground will have to drive past our shiny aluminum, flags flying, and the "Big Nasty". Go big or go home, right?

Alright folks, I've put together a pretty nice Rally Calendar listing. If you're interested in attending you can sign up on the calendar page by following the link below.

We can shoot for sites 81-100, but will all have to get in there quick to make reservations, because others will be scrambling for the same sites. I see on their campground page that groups cannot be guaranteed to be together.

I have the page bookmarked.

This summer I was looking at Wisconsin or Michigan. I could hop on 75 in Atlanta and follow it all the way. I might not be able to make a ralley but what a drive. It would be under 1000 miles. HMMMM? I will have to think this one out.

At the top of the state park page it says a recreation passport is required. Anybody know anything about this? I plan to have our account already set up so we can get reservations as soon as it opens that day.

It looks like Mich state parks have their own reservation site. They are not listed on Reserve America

The recreation passport is a basically an entrance fee. Michiganders can buy a tag for their license plates for $10 and it is good all season at all the state parks. Out of state visitors can just pay the $10 at the entrance.

Why NOT?? Come join us!

You could do that in two long days, then take some time to just hang out and relax.

It would be a beautiful drive, and northern Michigan doesn't look anything like Georgia.

Michigan Or Bust?

Spending some time at this rally may coincide with pursuing our Habitat for Humanity RV Care-A-Vanners passion. The Habitat build scheduled for Aug 5 - 19, in Munising, MI is full but maybe we'll put our names on the wait-list.

Danielle and I were in the southern portion of Michigan last year and we were disappointed that we didn't take time to see Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, etc. Our itenerary at the time only allowed us to zig-zag through Dearborn, Lansing, Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo. Maybe 2012 is the year to see Traverse City and the surrounding area.

By the way, if you're driving through the Kalamazoo area and you like automobiles, we highly recommend the Gilmore Auto Museum just outside town. Here's the link: Welcome to the Gilmore Car Museum

We went to Mackinac Island (sp?) several years ago and we certainly enjoyed our time there (pre-Airstream).

We'll keep you posted.

The first weekend of August is looking very promising on our calendar. I checked the campground web site and it looks like reservations have to be made within a 6-month window. Am I correct?

For now I'm assuming we will be able to attend this rally. We have to work out a Habitat for Humanity commitment for the following two weeks. If the stars align it looks like we'll be in Michigan this summer.

Looks like this is going to be a large and great group!

We have bookmarked the campground reservation site, and will hop in on there on February 1 or just prior. Looks like groups cannot be guaranteed to be together, so if we can all get in the same area, that may be the best we can do.

Planning on getting there about the 1st, staying through the weekend and then heading east for our fall expedition.

Looking forward to meeting some more of these Forums folks.

This is going to be great! It will be so nice to meet our Airforums friends only known by names and pictures.

We'll mark the calendar to book the sites at TC six months out.

This will be our longest trip to date, so we're going to do it in two days from St. Louis and stay half way at the Indiana Dunes State Park on Lake Michigan. It looks to be the same set up - reservations made 6 months out.

August will be here before we know it. Can't wait!

Found a cool website for those of us who will be doing some Upper peninsula exploring. Upper Peninsula Michigan, UP Michigan Travel & Recreation - UPTRA. We will be heading up to the UP the week before the rally and and spending time with one of my cousins who has a summer cabin in Manistique.
